Magic
Magic is the most prominent paracausal force in the cosmos allowing those capable to bend the world to their will in a variety of ways. Magic let's people bend the world in the form of spells, various specific effects and techniques which draw from the user's mana.
Traditional magic comes in one of two forms: arcane magic & divine magic. Arcane Magic comes from mortals spending years in studying to understand the way of magic as well as being in range of the arconis's light, this magic grows as the user does gaining better spells without the need for a god's favor. Divine Magic comes from a mortal's very own devotion to a deity, to something divine like nature, or an oath. Magic & spells are split into 8 schools of magic evocation, abjuration, transmutation, conjuration, illusion, enchantment, necromancy, & divination.
Evocation magic involves the manipulation of elemental energy to deal high amounts of damage spells that use fire, cold, electricity, acid, light, poison & other elemental energies are evocation & mages that specialize in this magic are called evokes. Abjuration magic involves defensive & warding spells blocking damage, making wards, sigils, & symbols that yield many effects like elemental blasts, stopping teleportation, stopping sensory & scrying spells ECT. mages that specialize in this magic are called abjurers.
Conjuration magic involves summoning objects & creatures from other realms this magic is used for teleportation and creation mages who specialize in this magic are called conjurers. Divination magic involves knowledge communication; divination spells can be used to understand languages, gain information, and even see into the future those who specialize in this magic are called diviners. Transmutation magic involves the manipulation of matter organic & inorganic transmutation spells can turn inorganic materials into other materials like stone to gold, or crystals it can manipulate organic matter making it stronger, weaker, younger, or older and messing with it's genetics giving it new abilities and traits, and transformer people into animals, those who specialize in this magic are called transmuters.
Illusion magic is one of the three dark magics involving the use of manipulating the senses of other creatures making them see, smell, feel, & hear things that aren't there. Those who specialize in this magic are called illusionists. Enchantment magic is one of the three dark magics involving the manipulation of the target's mind, memories, & emotions; those who specialize in this magic are called enchanters. Necromancy is the most infamous of the dark magics involving the manipulation of life & death, necromancy spells can siphon life-force, give life-force, capture and use souls, raise the dead to make undead, unleash necrotic energy, & can even resurrect others bringing them back to life those who specialize in this magic are called necromancers.
Spells are fueled by mana primarily although it's possible to use spirit in place of mana although it's an advanced technique. The mana needed for each spell depends on the level of the spell while spells of 0th level need no mana to cast. Spells go from level 0 to level 9 needing mana equal to the level × 10. It's possible for mortals to invent their own spells enabling them to be casted by other mages. In order to be effective with magic a mage must have a strong mind depending on the type of mage intelligence, wisdom, or charisma are needed to be high to make a strong mage.
There are some magics considered dark magic/black magic due to being highly used magics by malevolent entities mortals comparing it to evil & corruptive forces; magics like illusion, enchantment, & necromancy especially are shunned by many mortal societies. Magic can come in an even stronger form called "Epic Magic '' enabling the casting of spells above level 9, from 10 to 12 although this magic is difficult for mortals to use due to the years of experience needed to accomplish. Magic can come from other sources separate from the arconis like swarm sorcery & shadow magic.
Utility
Magic is used for a plethora of purposes depending on the school of magic and needs. Many people use magic to become adventures, huntsmen, assassins, ECT. Mages join together in cities and empires making various arcane guilds who perform various purposes.
Evokers are artillerists in armies using their elemental spells to decimate their foes with fire, ice, & lightning. Abjurers ward off various areas from infiltration, and spying. Diviners typically work for rulers telling them about the future & gain knowledge for their employers. Conjurers teleport others large distances and summon things for the community. Transmuters augment others and manipulate the area, & typically become alchemists. Illusionists manipulate the senses of others in a more subtle way using their magic to fool others. Enchanters mind control others for their employers or for their own grasps for power. Necromancers rarely work in societies using their magic to make undead armies, and seek immortality via lichdom.
Social Impact
Magic was seen as a means of advancing society with the immense potential of magic. People who used magic would be beloved or hated depending on the magic they used typically those who used necromancy aren't thought highly of while those who could use other forms of magic like evocation, abjuration, divination, ect we're beloved.

Access & Availability
Magic is something everyone is aware of. Every man, woman, & child is aware of magic but not everyone is capable of wielding magic. In heavily magical places like avalon, zodia, midgard, ect magic is imbued in many items for trade, sale, & use by the populace but being able to wield magic is held by mages & other races who naturally have magic within them like elves, celestials, fiends, & dragons. Mages are people who are gifted with the power to use magic to its fullest extent either through devotion or study, using mana to fuel the use of their spells; some mages are capable of using spells of ninth level while half-mages can only cast spells up to fifth level.
Discovery
Magic was discovered by the most powerful races during the old times the seraphim & the eidolons. The eidolons discovered arcane magic through their arconis gene & practice while the seraphim discovered divine magic via their genetics & devotion to zelgius.
