Sapphire Glaive

The Sapphire Glaive is the elite enforcement and protective unit of the Sapphire Empire, operating under the sole command of Empress Salena Athomath. Its primary duties include the personal protection of the Empress and her family, the execution of high-level imperial directives, enforcement of the The Sorcerer Classification and Integration Decree(SCID), and the suppression of unauthorized magical activity.   Members of the Glaive are trained in both conventional combat and sorcery. Selection is highly restricted, with initiates often sourced from military academies, Imperial loyalist families, or through direct elevation following exceptional service.

Structure

The Sapphire Glaive is an elite enforcement and protection organization within the Sapphire Empire. Unlike conventional military forces, the Glaive is structured as a singular, centralized institution operating across all 75 realms under direct Imperial command. It has no reserve or part-time components; all members are full-time operatives inducted through selection or SCID integration.   The Glaive is not integrated into the Azure Vanguard, nor does it fall under any Ministry except in coordination. It operates solely under the authority of Empress Salena, with its internal command structure reporting directly to the Kesh’ari (Supreme Commander).

Command Hierarchy

Empress Salena Andrea Athomath

Sovereign Commander-in-Chief. Issues direct directives to the Kesh’ari.

Kesh’ari (Supreme Commander)

Senior-most officer of the Glaive. Oversees all operations, strategy, internal discipline, and appointments.

Keshral (High Commanders)

Senior regional and division commanders. Responsible for operational management in major zones and imperial territories.

Keshran (Operatives)

Standard fully inducted members. Execute day-to-day enforcement, protection, and security operations.

Niv’resh (Initiates)

Trainees undergoing induction. Not assigned to live operations until full initiation is complete.

Deployment and Operational Structure

Unlike the modular divisions used by the Azure Vanguard, the Glaive operates as a compact elite force organized into mobile deployment cadres known as Glaive Circles (units of 4 to 12 members), Strike Cohorts, and Ceremonial Detachments. Circles are assigned based on mission parameters, not permanent structure.

Ceremonial Detachments

Assigned to Imperial functions, inspections, and public appearances. They operate out of the Glaive Tower.

Strike Cohorts

Tasked with rogue sorcerer enforcement, SCID compliance, and high-risk security enforcement. These units operate across all 75 realms.

Imperial Protection Corps

The personal protective unit assigned directly to Empress Salena and the Imperial Family, based within the Sapphire Palace.

Jurisdiction and Independence

The Glaive is exempt from oversight by any ministry or civil authority. It does not fall under the jurisdiction of:   The Ministry of Defense   The Ministry of Public Welfare and Order   The Ministry of Sorcerous Affairs   While these Ministries may collaborate with the Glaive, its operations are classified and independent unless personally overruled by the Empress.

Public Agenda

Direct protection of Empress Salena and the Imperial Family.   Enforcement of SCID, including apprehension of unregistered or rogue sorcerers.   Execution of high-priority orders as issued by the Throne.   Presence at state ceremonies and official imperial functions.   Supplementary support to the Ministry of Sorcerous Affairs and Ministry of Public Welfare and Order when authorized.

Personal Equipment and Gear

Armor

Armor worn by members of the Sapphire Glaive is constructed from reinforced black alloy, offering high durability, mobility, and protection. While a standardized foundation exists—primarily the helmet, torso plating, and gauntlets—each set of armor is individually customized to the user.   Variations may include changes to shoulder design, outer plating, and personal insignia. These adjustments reflect the combat preferences and physical requirements of each member. All armor includes the embedded sapphire crest, denoting official Glaive status.

Etherium Weapons

All members possess a personal Etherium-based weapon, brought with them upon acceptance into the Glaive. These weapons are not issued, but rather reflect the wielder’s prior development and magical discipline. Upon joining, members are granted access to Glaive forge facilities to either upgrade their existing weaponry or reforge them with enhanced craftsmanship, new hilts, or symbolic integration reflecting their new allegiance.

Field Equipment

Operatives are issued mission-specific gear based on assignment parameters. This includes tactical restraints and arcane containment tools designed for dealing with rogue sorcerers. Loadouts are modular and approved at the Keshral level before deployment.

History

The Sapphire Glaive was founded at the direct order of Empress Salena Andrea Athomath in the early weeks following her ascension to the Sapphire Throne. Its establishment marked a pivotal redefinition of imperial authority—distinct from traditional realm militaries or private guard corps.   The Glaive's original members were drawn from prominent sorcerers, loyalist military personal of Alagor, and high-ranking operatives from defunct pre-unification orders. From its inception, the Glaive served both as a personal guard to the Empress and as visible proof of her ideological commitment to stability, control, and unity.   As of 3 BFE, compliance with the The Sorcerer Classification and Integration Decree expanded the Glaive's intake pipeline. All Alpha-ranked sorcerers were made eligible--some compulsorily--resulting int he largest recorded expansion of the Glaive's active ranks. These reforms helped transition the Glaives from an elite protectorate into an operational enforcement arm of the Empire, often deployed for high-level arrests, anti-insurgency strike, or symbolic patrols in tense realms.

Disbandment

The Sapphrie Glaive is composed exclusively of Alpha-class sorcerers--individuals whose magical capacity and control are considered of the highest level of magical ability across the 75 realms. All members are either volunteers or conscripts.   Estimated Active Members: Approximately 13,000 Empire-wide, with density the highest in the capital realm of Alagor and Avalon.   Gender Distribution: No restrictions. Selection is based entirely on classification and magical aptitude.   Family Encouragement: Precreation and intra-Glaive relationships are officially encouraged. The Empress has emphasized generational continuity and ideological inheritance within the Order.   Lineage Monitoring: Chidlren of the glaive members are screened from infancy for magical affinity and are often pre-designated for mentorship or early recruitment tracks.

Infrastructure

All operations of the Sapphire Glaive are centralized within the Glaive Tower, located in the Spire District of the Imperial Capital. This vertical facility serves multiple roles:   Operational Headquarters: Tactical planning, deployments, and mission oversight.   Training Grounds: Onsite sorcery combat simulators and sparring chambers.   Living Quarters: Residential floors assigned by seniority, specialty, or command structure.   Armory: Etherium weapon storage and modification workshops.   Vault Archives: Sealed internal records, combat logs, SCID breach cases, and classified decrees.   Chapel of the Diadem: A non-religious sanctum for personal reflection, used ceremonially during oaths or funerary rites.   All Glaive members live within the tower full-time unless deployed. The tower operates as a closed ecosystem—social, administrative, and logistical needs are met internally.
