Champions

Champions of Peblui are passionate and strong, they were among the first to ally themselves with the aulvi when they saw that the aulvi were fighting against the jant. They lost more than the other tribes in the war, but they also killed more Jant than any other kolobvol tribe.

Champions are often keepers of flame, or guardians of cities or volcanoes. Many are incredibly amorous or angry. They are unwilling to simply sit back and wait, wading into battle as soon as injustice is seen, rather than waiting for opportune moments, but willing to cover that flame, if they see that it will lead to greater injustice.

A new Temple was created in a captured city of the fire jant of the strength tribe in the volcano known as High Peak, formerly ˈkva˩to˩zo˩b ˈgo˩tta˩z among the jant, the city has been renamed Alzëlunlup Kæpëwozlo or "Fortune's favor" by the anadi who sacked the city as the Strength tribe fell, forcing the fire jant to return as allies, or else to join the demon tribe in disgrace. (many were split and either did both, or broke off to join the nomadic desert tribe jant.)

History

Peblui was a guide who followed the ways of Gaepyopizi-Worldsister in her youth. She was much more rash than the other guides, however, and would often go off alone to search the inner ring of the mountain wall separating the desert and the jungle of Daebzat.

On one such excursion, Peblui came across a volcano, and rather than keep away from it, as kolobvol were wont to do, she entered it through a narrow pass. Once inside, the heat was intense, but strangely comforting against her hair.

As she found the heart of the volcano, she looked in open wonder at the roiling heat in it's depths, but moreso at the elementals and flame sprites dancing in its depths. She longed to dance with them, but as she drew closer, the hairs along her carapace began to burn and she was forced away.

When she returned to her tribe, they scolded her for the danger she had placed herself in, but she knew in her heart that she would reeturn. Whenever she could get away, she went to the volcano, and watched the dancing spirits. months after her first visit, she saw a small flame waft out of the volcano and followed it.

It was a child compared to the other flames, and it shivered in the desert sun. it was shrinking, and Peblui quickly realized that it would die without her help. She picked it up, the hairs on her back burning away as she rushed into the volcano. Even as she got to the portion where she had made it before, the little flame spirit shivered, so she went further, her hairs burst alight, and her carapace singed. the pain was only bearable because she knew what she was doing was just.

As the flames threatened to consume her, another flame spirit came closer and took the child from her, taking the flames from her body in thanks, and giving her reprieve from the flames, and healing her burns.

She returned often after that, befriending the spirits of the flame who would venture further from their flame to come see her, and she, in turn, would try to get closer and closer to the flame until it was too much to bear. Strangely, day after day, she found herself getting closer and closer, and the flames bothered her less and less, until one day, she danced along the top of the molten lava without pain or fear.

It was that day that she had fully been given the power of flame from Storyteller who had stolen it from En-shanni-Vatti-Brother Shadow , and that was the day that she ascended.

The Church

The churches of Peblui are typically either small stone structures filled with torches and braziers, or small camps at the bases of volcanoes. The one exception is in Fortune's Favor, where the temple is massive. The Temple of Gohgbohb Gahghahk-Mountain King was ransacked during the war, and the statues melted and replaced by obsidian statues of Peblui, the burned banners remain. The Flame jant who remain are not allowed to worship the mountain king, as he was the cause for their enslavement in the first place. though they are not required to worship Peblui, though many do. With the new order among jant and the strength tribe disbanded, those jant who stay with the flame tribe have for the most part, taken to the worship of Peblui as a deity more similar to their new reality than the Mountain king ever was.

Followers

Followers of Peblui include warriors, blacksmiths, glassblowers, guides, flame-keepers, lighthouse workers, chefs, lovers, and some Flame Jant. While almost all Kolobvol worship Peblui at some point in their lives, it is those who are most passionate who make it their calling.

When someone gets into an activity that they are passionate about, they might offer a prayer of "don't let this ember die" to Peblui to help them keep their interest alive, or the same prayer might be said by Kolobvol who have a struggling relationship.

Relationships

Peblui looks up to Gaepyopizi-Worldsister, as she was in her service before becoming a deity on her own. However, she understands that the two of them do not always see eay-to-eye, and does not let the seniority of worldsister alter her own perceptions on situations.

She has a close connection to Aepyozoi -Skybrother who helps to keep her energized, just as his breezes stoke the flames of her fires. Peblui's passions pften put her at the heart of troubles between Storyteller and Brother shadow, however, as she is the least likely to think about her actions before acting on them.

Both Storyteller and Brother Shadow are careful not to anger her, however, as that is a danger not soon extinguished. Peblui loves the vivacity of Pyotyukae- They of the Flowers and Trees, and has a sweet tooth for honey, though the patience and fragility of plants bore her. She will often burn materials out of boredom, then offer the ash to Pyotyukae as apology, and even gave smoke the ability to lull bees to sleep in hopes of earning her elder sibling's forgiveness (and hopefully some delectable honey.)

While the relationship between Pekepeti- Water Brother and Peblui is not often on the best terms, the result of those interactions creates obsidian, Peblui's favorite stone, so she retains a healthy respect for her divine brother, even if his cool head often irritates her.

Peblui finds Ashana to be too slow in her actions, but appreciates that she is a non-kolobvol deity who fights for her people. Likewise, she only has appreciation for Tvohhdknohd Tvokhkhzohk- Ocean Queen because of her extreme hatred of the Jant.

Gohgbohb Gahghahk-Mountain King is her enemy, perhaps even moreso than many others of The Ancient Ægadia due to the violence with which her tribe faced off against the strength tribe, and the resulting casualties. Galvander is another enemy that frustrates Peblui, as her warriors cannot get to his lands to burn them to the ground and free their kin.

Divine Allies

Among her retinue are creatures of flame, such as fire elementals, and flame sprites. One large egg that has been watched over for millenia, and a few phoenix.

Gægye: affectionately referred t o as Gigi by many of the faithful, Gægye is the young fire elemental who Peblui rescued millenia ago from the cold heat of the desert sun. He appears in many forms, as his shape is less a matter of matter than it is of concept, though some of his favorite forms are that of a flaming bird, a dancing man, and a dragon. Gægyeis a close friend to Peblui, and while they often argue, he is always the first to aid her when she needs it.

Divine Intercession

Those who anger Peblui often suffer greatly from it, though usually only briefly.

Minor curse: The next time you take fire damage from a source that is trying to kill you, you take double that fire damage. If you are immune or resistant to fire damage, ignore that immunity or resistance for this instance of damage.

Holidays

Flame's apex: High summer, the day that is typically the hottest in the year. Kolobvol are encouraged to spend some time in the sun, to whatever level they can stand. Both before and afterwards, it is customary to apply preparatory ointments to protect from sun damage. These ointments both prevent burns from the sun and help skin damaged by the sun recover. After one has spent time in the sun, it is customary to feast of seared foods, and is one of the few days in Gënlèul- Land of Dawn where meat is prevalently cooked.

Molten Heart's day: This is the day when most Kolovbol marriages occur, and certainly the day considered most romantic among the tribes. Small sewn Tipø - Kolobvol silk itens are given as gifts to represent love and passion towards one another. This is also the day where one is allowed to air grievances with the intent of them being heard with an open mind.
