Aphorisms
The winds of change: The winds bring many things, some good, some not-so-good, but all change can be beneficial in time, and one should try to find out what good things can come from change rather than try to avoid it.
The Thunder and the Rain- or- the Thunder and the Lightning: Individully these phrases mean different things. The thunder and the rain can mean someone who is all bluster, but their argument is all bluster, or that a problem is not as bad as it seems at first glance. The thunder and the lightning is the opposite, it represents someone who will do what is necessary to do what they must, or that a problem is greater than it seems. Together the phrase becomes a statement asking either "Are you going to do something about it, or not?" or "is this a legitimate problem, or are you making it seem worse than it actually is?"
Head in the clouds: Someone who has ideas thatare lofty, but not practical. This often refers to young kolobvol who dream of becoming great heroes or great artists. It is not a negative statement, and can refer to idealists. Many aulvi are referred to by Kolobvol as having their heads in the clouds.
Champions
Champions of Aepyozoi are relatively uncommon, though those that do exist do so as protectors of friend groups or tall places. Some champions of Aepyozoi travel along the Ashanites/The Bluebird's Chorus to free enslaved people and play music, while others protect places like schools, places of play, and places of entertainment, such as theatres and parks.
History
Aepyozoi was always climbing trees, and singing with birds and avian dinosaurs. From a young age, he dreamed of soaring above the clouds, and his friends often supported his ideas. He came up with many inventions to apply silk to flight, but he struggled with focus, and left almost all of his inventions incomplete. Luckily, his friends were there to make the things that he designed, and help him test them out.
There were many failed attempts, which resulted in the invention of the kite, but no such designs would hold a kolobvol's weight and fly. After a number of injuries, and destroyed silk, the elders forbade his testing his designs. That did not stop him, nor did it prevent his friends from helping him. One day, while he was watching a volcano, he saw the sparks and ash floating upwards, and this mystified him. He tried to make silk that would go into the volcano, but it burned, so he tested it from higher and higher up the volcano, until it did not burn.
He refused to let his friends test such a dangerous tool, and did so himself, allowing them to tie strings to him, like a kite. Happy with this agreement, Aepyozoi opened his large silk net with his eight limbs and dove above the sweltering volcano. He dipped, and his friends went to pull him up, but then he shot up, and it was everything they could do to hold on to him as he soared above the jungles on his silken kite.
He was enjoying the process so much that he almost did not see the stone jants moving stealthily towards a group of his tribeswomen who were gathering berries from the bushes on the side of the mountain. He yelled to his friends to let him go, and with a little reluctance they did so. Flight came naturally to him, as he had watched many creatures glide, and he floated down near his tribeswomen, warning them of the oncoming jant before they got too close. The tribe was grateful for his assistance, as the stone Jant would not risk entering the jungles where the wood jant lived, and where the tribe prospered.
After this event, the tribegave him more leeway in his inventions, and he and his friends would often scout from high above, giving a view that even the Jant would have envied. One day while he was up there, a low cloud passed over him, and he disappeared into it. His friends were frantic, until they began to float as well. Even though he had ascended, he wouldn't go without his friends, and his three friends floats-on-thoughts, runs-on-air, and Sinks-upwards became the clouds around him, and his first divine allies.
The Church
Churches of Aepyozoi are uncommon, and the few that exist are at the tops of sheer cliffs, so that followers can glide the silk down from them, and perceive either the jungle of the desert below them. Such buildings are typically tall, thin towers built to withstand the wind and add as much height as is possible for the followers when they go gliding or flying.
Followers
Followers of Aepyozoi are those who are dedicated friends, inventors, daydreamers, authors, artists, comedians, and weather forecasters. His aulven followers were the first to take the flying dinosaurs, and become the Thunder Spears.
Relationships
Aepyozoi makes fast friends, though many of the The Ancient Ægadia see him as a dreamer, rather than a steadfast companion. Peblui- Sister Flame and Pekepeti- Water Brother are his closest friends among the Ancient Ægadia as he helps both of them. Peblui also gave him the inspiration for heat drafts for his flight, and he is ever grateful for her. Pekepeti and Aepyozoi collaborate often for rainfall, but Aepyozoi often gets frustrated with his divine brother and their arguments cause the thunder.
Of his elder divine siblings, Aepyozoi has great respect and admiration for both Gaepyopizi-Worldsister and Pyotyukae- They of the Flowers and Trees, and seeks to help them whenever he can, though he finds rare occasion to help Gaepyopizi, he has taken a great deal of enjoyment in floating the pollen across the island to various places that it never reached before his ascension to divinity.
Aepyozoi does not interact with the brooding En-shanni-Vatti-Brother Shadow very often, nor can he deal with all the scheming, but he does respect the eldest's keen mind, though he wishes he would use it for innovation rather than conniving. Aepyozoi likewise enjoys the stories that Storyteller spins, but rarely stays long enough to hear the endings for the longest ones, and as a result, he is only given shortened stories by his mysterious sibling. Among all other deities, however, Aepyozoi prefers Ashana, as her form is that of a songbird, and in his mortal days, one of his favorite activities was singing with the few songbirds that found their way to Daebzat's shores. He rarely assists Ashana in long, drawn out activities, but is happy to assist her in short forays and musical accompaniment, and in turn, she does not expect over much from him, and benefits from his light-hearted comedy.
Aepyozoi has not yet made opinions about Gaepyolaenga- Mercurial Maiden, but he intends to get around to it... someday, as she is his newest divine sibling. Aepyozoi hates Galvander for restricting both freedoms of person and freedoms of speech, and Finds the Gohgbohb Gahghahk-Mountain King to be an annoying old man, stuck in his ways, though there was a different mountain king once in the past who entertained him before going and getting drowned by Tvohhdknohd Tvokhkhzohk- Ocean Queen. As a result, he does not like the Ocean queen.
Divine Allies
Aepyozoi's divine allies are his living friends who have taken the forms of various clouds that follow him around.
Floats-on-thoughts: Takes the form of Cirrus clouds, floating high in the sky as she dreams alongside her friends, her singing and lofty ideals, combined with her shyness, give the clouds their whispy appearance.
Runs-on-air: The most active of Aepyozoi's friends, and an avid runner in life, takes on the form of cumulus clouds. Runs-on-air was the friend most active in building the inventions that Aepyozoi forgot to craft. His solidness and the flats of his feet from running give the cumulus clouds their distinctive shapes and flat bottoms.
Sinks-Upwards: The most depressed and morose of the three friends of Aepyozoi, Sinks-upwards was nonetheless the one who would stand up for his friends the most often when punishment came from the elders, and the one who least enjoys praise. Sinks-upwards always hid in the back of the group when they were being praised and moved to the front when they were being punished. His depressive moods and solid personality shape the blanket-like, gloomy Stratus clouds, and his bouts of depression are characterized by the mists and drizzles that Stratus clouds are so well-known for.
Divine Intercession
Aepyozoi strongly dislikes any who betray their friends, and curses those worst offenders who treat friendship like a tool for advancement.
Minor curse: The next time you critically succeed on a diplomacy check, treat that result as a critical fail instead. This is a fortune effect.
Holidays
Skywatch- A holiday set on the first very windy day of the fourth month, it is a kite-flying holiday, where kolobvol youth show off their skills at kite-making.
Innovation Eve- A holiday set on the final day of the second to last week of the year, this is a holiday for innovators to show off their crafts. Originally this was a time for kolovbol to share with their tribes the technological and literary innovations they had made throughout the year, stories are told, and new technologies are displayed. In Gënlèul- Land of Dawn this has become a city-wide festival of enlightenment, and the Aulvi, Hues, and Humans all join in to show off their innovations.
