Lagnuf

A town populated by sentient fungal people and creatures, with a level of intelligence that have the potential to rival Sorcerers. Hidden in the deepest depths of the Fungal Swamps, South of The Great Forest. An area many avoid due to the town rapidly developing over the last few decades with little known about the swamps themselves. A place full of mystery which has been investigated by the Curse Healers over the last few years at the request of Mayor Hamoss.

Residents:

The town is made up of a variety of creatures and species co-inhabiting the tree trunk buildings and scooped out mushroom cottages.

Maitake

Upon looking at these walking, talking fungus people, they appear with flat, wide leaves clumped together to create a thick plumage that protects the brain of the creatures. The size of these creatures range from 4ft to 9ft, continuously growing taller and taller with age. Their bodies are thick and skin made of the same material as mushroom stems. Wearing armour and clothing made from bark of trees and strapped together with twine and vines. Protruding from their main body are limbs which are stumpy but strong. While resting and idle they stand on two legs, but walk and climb on all fours.   When they try to speak, it sounds slow and muffled due to the lack of teeth. They appear docile and curious about new creatures, unaware of any immediate threats towards them. But be cautious, if you show any sign of aggression and they will respond with violence. Protecting one another from the immediate threat. Colouring wise, they have streaks and spots of blue down their bodies and heads are all manner of cool colours. Ranging from deep purple to pale green all mixed with browns and blacks. They don't appear to have the ability to perform any sort of magic but Curse Healers hypothesise they have a similar natural resistance as Minaurans.

Mittman

Beings that originate fromThe Fairy Realm. Magicless creatures that are short in nature with bulbous facial features. These gnomish beings each wear a variety of magical hats that reflect the emotions they are currently feeling. Red known for being passionate. Blue represents sadness and yellow is considered joyful.   Standing only 3ft tall, the Mittman help the Maitake make various materials and items for the town. Sharing skills such as making tools and netting, survival and sustainable techniques such as farming and coaching them on basic words of native Fairy and Scryptian so they can communicate.   The ratio of Mittman to Maitake throughout Lagnuf is disproportionate. With roughly one hundred Mittman in the town. Elders of the group have shared with outsiders the troupearrived in this realm of magic decades ago, lost and confused how they got here. Eventually they settled in the cliffs of the plateau and the edge of the Great Forest. Overtime they observed the town of Lagnuf pop up and became fascinated by it. Stepping into the forest and finding the early Maitake. After discovering their docile nature and lack of skills, they took it upon themselves to move into the town and help the shroomfolk.

Lay of the Land

Buildings throughout Lagnuf are made from repurposed tree trunks, sprouting fungal extensions and walls constructed from wooden planks. Only ever reaching two storey tall which allows them to hide underneath the swamp foliage. On a night, the town is illuminated by firefly lanterns, bioluminescent plants and small mechanical contraptions made by the Mittman. Most buildings have a single floor above ground and one or two more dug underground. Housing materialistic objects and trinkets the Maitake have found over the years. There is little to no fire or flames throughout the town as the Maitake fear it.   To the south of the town is a glowing river, deep blue that oozes magic. Curse Healers researching the town suspect the glowing river is related to the same magic that enables Mystic Paints to work. On the river bed are makeshift fences and fields of swamp plants that are consumed by the Maitake with occasional vegetable like carrots and potatoes. Twisting paths creep around the buildings more as a last-minute thought than a careful plan of the town's layout.
