The Great Forest

The largest forest in Cytal, splitting the north and south plains in the Western region of the continent. Densely populated with Druevanian trees, Ashwoods, Great Elms and many more. Due to the compact nature of the foliage and a canopy creating mass shadows the forest has become home to many dangerous animals, monsters and plants that aren’t found anywhere else. With a single safe path through the forest, many avoid it altogether unless absolutely necessary.

Plants & Fauna:

Druevanian Tree: Giant conifer trees that populate the majority of the Great Forest, with an abundance of rich green needle life leaves and a dark wood which is a favourite for craftsmen.   Ptettell Buds: Bright orange buds grown with a sweet scent that grow in the darkest corners of the forest. Useful for a number of potions but difficult to attain as the buds are part of the living plant creatures, Ptettell.   Silkin Tree: Rare to find, these are the home of the Silkin Spider. A tree that is made primarily of silk and webbing from the spiders. When the arachnids die, they return to the tree to hang from the branches, forming leaves to the tree.
Dremage: Small blood sucking bugs that fly in swarms around the edges of the forest. Hoping to find anything that they can feed on.   Enochi: Living bushes with tall, thin mushroom tops with four stumpy legs. Skittish in nature, they feed on the debris of the forest. Often hiding in plain sight to avoid being eaten themselves.   Splock: Small pale creatures with multiple eyes, have no fear against predators and frequently use their psychic abilities to cause trouble. Capable of climbing on any surface with surprising speed.

Notable Locations

Base of the Web of Kikullu: A cult of spies dedicated to protecting Silkin Spiders, rumoured to have a base of operations on the Western side of the forest. No one seen this base but guards of Yroh Wood believe it to exist.   Basilisk Maze: Home of the blinding serpent known as the Basilisk. Brought to this realm by Serapentus, Acuran of Serpents and the birthplace of the first Marubell.   Path of the Brave: A singular path marked out through the forest which is deemed as the safest route. Avoiding monster lairs and the most well lit. Travellers who brave entering the forest stay as close to this path as possible.
Ruins of Cynnaghar: Hidden under the forest floor is the ruins of the ancient city of Cynnaghar. One of the first civilizations of Cytal. A city once known for powerful Acuran and renowned warriors.   Spirit of the Weeping Widow: Long ago a village on the edge of the forest was overwhlemed by monsters. One brave man entered the forest to stop them but failed. Legend says his wife fell into a constant state of mourning, the place he fell to this day. Located somewhere near the centre of the Great Forest.   Waystone: One of the known waystones mapped by the Realm Rangers during the age of exploration. Noted that it leads to the realm of Monsters, also known as Kurse.
