The Foxhole
The Foxhole is a small village on the northern side of the Fox Fire Mountains. The only bridge spanning The Trench is situated in the settlement, this makes it a common resting spot for adventurers and dust gathering parties before they go north into the Dustlands. Much of the economy is based around this, meaning that it is a very seasonal town, with a rush during the winter, especially in the month of Coldlight.
Underneath the town flows the Copper River which flows out into The Trench beneath the Dark Span Bridge, the shelf that holds the town is an average of 9 meters thick, with the narrowest point being just 3 meters. A well has been dug through the crust to supply the town with water, it is also used to lift people up who arrive by boat.
There are only three ways in or out of the settlement, one of which is the bridge to the Dustlands. The other two are The Screaming Cavern, named for the sound of the wind down the passage; and the river. The cavern leads directly south and it is an 8 day journey by foot, or 5 when mounted, to The Scorched Fort, and a further 4 / 2 days to The City of Furnaces. The river is a 18 day journey to the closest settlement of Ember Home, however it is the only way to transport large amounts of goods out of the Foxhole.

Geography
The Foxhole lies in a whirlpool hole with a flat bottom. At the center of the settlement is a hole that has been turned into a well because it leads down into the Copper River. The river then pours out below the Dark Span Bridge into The Trench. The village is at the northern edge of the Fox Fire Mountains where the mountains stop suddenly at The Trench, thus, there are many shear mountains around the Foxhole, including Fox's Fall and Peak's Fall with the mysterious Peak's Fall Monastery in it's caldera. A long ravine, called The Screaming Cavern, makes it possible to access the more inhabited parts of the mountain range.
