Ashsteel

Ashsteel is a rare, alchemical alloy produced in the furnaces located under the village of Toun, far out in the Sunrathe Wastes. It is the product of a cult calling themselves the Ashsteel Commune, and used almost exclusively in and around Rhô.   Ashsteel is a matte black alloy created using desert steel from The Mournshade Mines, powdered volcanic glass from the ancient lava beds making up the desert floor, charred bone ash from the cultists themselves, and a binding agent known only to the Miners, that is theorized to be a distillate of demon ichor. It is porous, at first, losing that porosity as it is worked and heated. The more it is heated, the stronger the material becomes, but it cal also become brittle if not tempered correctly.

Properties

Material Characteristics

It is matte black, and stronger and lighter than steel.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Heat Affinity: Ashsteel becomes sharper and more resilient the hotter it gets—gaining a faint red glow in battle, similar to an ember.

Soul Echo: Weapons forged from Ashsteel are said to carry traces of the soul whose bones were used in the alloy. They may whisper in firelight or resonate faintly with the Forge Prayers.

Unmelting: Unlike normal metals, Ashsteel does not melt under conventional fire. It must be worked in a Hellheat Crucible—fueled by spiritual flame or elemental combustion.

Anti-Divine Residue: When wielded against divine servants or celestial beings, Ashsteel disrupts holy magic slightly—believed to be a result of its blasphemous origins.
