Praren HA7

A small, cold planet of the Leonogo Major System.

Praren HA7 is one of the furthest planets from the local star and black hole. It is thus also one of the coldest planets in the system as well, and its thin atmosphere retains little of the heat that does reach it. However, as it had a single magnetic monopole at its core for unknown reasons, it has become a subject of great interest to the Drimax United Systems society once they discovered it, as it meant that monopoles could really exist. It is still unknown how it formed, but an intense extraction effort followed years later when its true scientific value was still being speculated on, but it was theorised that the drimax might be able to manufacture monopoles on their own if they could study the one on Praren HA7...

In the end, the extraction efforts to reach the core of this completely frozen ice planet eventually resulted in a success despite many failed attempts. Immense quantities of shipments to this planet were made and many people even died in these attempts. With more advanced technology such as that of the modern Hyperion Federation, this would have been relatively easy but at the time the drimax only had early space age levels of technology, and FTL travel was recently invented and initially did not work very well.

The planets core is entirely frozen over, so there was no continental drift that these extraction missions had to take into account. Also, most of the surface is covered in ice, making it quite easy to cool down highly energy intensive equipment with large cooling rigs. The ice could melt though, if sufficient heat is introduced, which could destroy foundations of buildings if the issue is allowed to worsen. It also provided a slipping hazard to anything crossing the giant ice fields. These ice fields were often described as 'lonely', expansive or empty.  

In more current times, tens of thousands of years later, the old failed core mines have decayed to uselessness. However, new mines with the purpose of extracting more conventional metals from the core have been built, and still run to supply the drimax with raw materials in the form of matter plasma. The surface is also sometimes used to hide large black projects away from any obvious location and enemy spies. Sometimes these facilities are hidden under thick layers of ice that resemble mountains, but many of them are very deep underground and have little to no impact on surface topography. Though the planet has a number of defence platforms in orbit, the drimax are careful to not place too many, but the fact that this planet is in the drimax home system gives them an amount of room for error.
