Artonar G16

A very hot planet of the Leonogo Major System.

Artonar G16 contains a measure of toxic chemicals in its fairly thick atmosphere. It purely orbits the black hole in this system, and the planet was discovered last out of the planets in the system because it was found just outside of the accretion disk. All previous efforts to study the accretion disk could not determine the relative mass of this planet so they presumed it as just another large asteroid in the accretion disk.

Asteroids burn up in its atmosphere all the time, occasionally collecting asteroids from the accretion disk. Its days and years are very short, but it collects tens of thousands of asteroids daily, and the asteroids shower the planet in dust and contribute resources to it. Because of this, the entire surface of the planet is covered in materials containing valuable metal dust. Some of the gases in the atmosphere can also be valuable and are also extracted and refined.

Thus, Artonar G16 has been quite useful to the Drimax United Systems as a mining planet. They merely need to scrape the surface of dust and ship that off world. They would refine it in orbit around a different planet (as Artonar G16 is quite dangerous). With the arrival of later technologies such as replicators, they would instead convert it into matter plasma. The latter operation is notably easier to do and can be done on world, and with this level of technology they would simply teleport the matter plasma across the system to the wider economy.
