Positron Cannon

A particle cannon used by the Hyperion Federation. It fires streams of positrons which will annihilate on contact with any matter, releasing extremely large amounts of energy. As the positrons are charged, they will be deflected by any magnetic field, making magnets a hard counter.   The Positron Cannon was designed by a Togroid who was highly fascinated by the War-Engineers of the Hyperion Federation. This individual was also highly interested in the properties of antimatter, so he developed a new design of weapons that could fire these positrons at a target and allow them to annihilate with the matter in the enemy armour. Such a weapon is impossible to withstand as the target entity is converted into a massive explosion but as positrons are a charged particle they can be deflected by an enemy easily by using a powerful magnetic field. Due to its raw power, the HF contacted the individual in question, who allowed the HF to use it in the military. However, as shieldless targets are rare, positron cannons are not commonly used by the HF. Positron cannons still have a role to play however.
