Hypermatter Accelerator Cannon HAC

The Hypermatter Accelerator Cannon (HAC) is a turret built and extremely rarely used by the Hyperion Federation. It can either fire individual particles of Hypermatter at the target, let it decay and fire the resulting radiation towards the target, or turn it into a stream of tachyons and fire those at the target, depending on its setting. Although the hypermatter causes immense damage to whatever unfortunate target lies on the wrong side of the extremely long barrel, HACs are still rarely used due to the very high price tag of its ammunition, which easily exceeds the price of the weapon itself.   When Tarlox realised that hypermatter could make for a very powerful weapon if fired, he got a large team to construct this weapon. Even the least energy intensive components had to be built to use several thousand volts and over 100 amps. This ensures that interference cannot disrupt the operation of the weapon in any way, including interference from the projectile itself. This makes it surprisingly reliable even when fired in high interference areas, such as near the magnetic field of a neutron star. Due to this, it also requires a large amount of power from the launching ship itself.
