Nythera Rhyelith is a seasoned elven rogue and a founding member of Group Frostbourne, known for her cold precision, strategic mind, and unnervingly calm demeanor. Though quiet about her past, her skills—and scars—suggest a long and complex life spent walking the knife's edge between survival and silence. Whispers of a name, “Raven’s Breath,” have surfaced during party conversations, though Nythera reveal the true meaning of this moniker.

Now well into her second century, Nythera is navigating the frozen world of Ellara with a new sense of purpose. Beneath her unshakable exterior lies a complex woman shaped by great personal loss, sharpened by war, and quietly defined by the family she’s fought to build across generations.

Background

Nythera was born in 1225 AEC, in the waning years before Zannon Carter’s war against non-humans erupted across the continent. During this brutal campaign, she lost her parents and two sisters, a formative tragedy that left lasting marks on her worldview. While she rarely speaks of those early years, the loss clearly forged the steel that guides her now.

Though details of her life in the decades that followed remain Unknown, her expertise in infiltration, misdirection, and lethality suggest she has seen—and survived—much. Any mention of her past is brief, vague, or met with silence.

Despite her solitary nature, Nythera has built an expansive family legacy. She has been twice widowed, most recently to Thranak Gorehide, a respected Moz’zogg orc warrior publicly mentioned in a blog post on the show’s website. Between both marriages, Nythera has raised five children, who have since given her 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-great-grandchildren… so far.

Personality

Nythera is composed, calculating, and often unreadable—she speaks with purpose or not at all. She is rarely the first to act impulsively but is nearly always the last one standing. To those who travel with her, she can be an intimidating presence, but those who earn her trust find in her a quiet, protective loyalty that runs deeper than words.

While she rarely shows sentimentality, Nythera exhibits her care through sharp advice, well-timed interventions, and keeping a watchful eye from the shadows. Her pragmatism and cold logic often mask a deep, unspoken warmth—particularly when it comes to the youngest (or most foolish) members of her party.

Notable Relationships

• Thranak Gorehide – Nythera’s late husband, a Moz’zogg warrior known for his strength and patience. Their love, mentioned in supplemental content, is one of the few aspects of her past she has acknowledged with visible softness.
• Ruby Pettigrew – Though Nythera maintains a tough exterior, her relationship with Ruby reveals glimpses of her maternal side. She quietly encourages Ruby’s growth and watches her with the protectiveness of someone who’s raised generations.

The group has been contracted to explore the frozen expanse of Ellara in 1378 AEC, uncovering hidden threats, navigating political tensions, and uncovering truths buried in snow and silence. Whether Nythera’s past will resurface on this journey remains to be seen—but she is watching, waiting, and always ready.
