A half-orc gearslinger with a mind for invention and a spark of mischief, Ruby brings relentless optimism and battlefield ingenuity to every frozen step across Ellara. With a knack for turning scrap into solutions and pressure into performance, she’s more than earned her place on the team—and maybe even in history.
Beneath the flurry of bolts and banter is someone shaped by hardship, fiercely loyal to those she calls family. Her unshakable bond with Logrhyn Cragborn, her closest companion of five years, grounds her in the harsh world they navigate together.
Background
Ruby was born on the streets of Brightport, a city known for its shadows, deals, and dangerous ambitions. Her earliest years were spent in the Pettigrew Orphanage, a small, scrappy community of abandoned children who took care of each other when no one else would. In honor of that found family, they all took the shared surname “Pettigrew.”
As a child of Brightport, Ruby learned to survive through wit, speed, and clever hands. She scavenged, tinkered, and eventually created her signature wrist-mounted ballistas—lethal devices that pair mechanical precision with devastating efficiency. Her combat style is all momentum: fire, strike, duck, and hit again. It’s as much dance as it is war.
Personality
Ruby is a whirlwind of energy, sarcasm, and stubborn resilience. She wears her heart in a loose pocket and isn’t afraid to leap into danger with a grin. While she thrives in chaos, she’s far from careless—her observations are sharp, and her instincts are even sharper. She sees cracks in plans, opportunities in failure, and never misses a beat (or a bolt).
Though Ruby often laughs first and asks questions later, her loyalty runs deep. She considers Group Frostbourne her chosen family, and she would gladly stand in harm’s way for any of them. Her dynamic with Logrhyn is especially close—a mix of camaraderie, mutual trust, and quiet reliance that has grown over years of travel.
