Radath and Atney

Where is Atneypoltiai located?

Atney, formally Atnypoltiai, is a theome in a forested highlands where the river Lorniven is nothing but a bunch of meltwater streams that have not yet combined to form the swift-flowing river which feeds snowmelt to the Great Lake Smaril. It is north of the infamous mystic theome Serafustin and Lorilaine.

Although it is on the map just south of Lirtirra and Tyula, there is no access to the mountain valley most associated with Tyula, as there is a great mountain peak and untraversable mountainous terrain in between Atney and Tyula. Visitors who seek Tyula are advised to go through Tirrtian Pass instead. Fortunately, Tirrtian Pass is just to the west of Atney, which is a common stopover on the Tachanigh-Kelkaith Trade Corridor.

How is Atnypoltiai classified?

Benevolent. Some of the local art calls Atney "the last northern bastion of Springtime," as it and the mountain that shields it are south of the frigid arcane forests where northern Kelkaith becomes truly inhospitable. Spring is still short, late, and cold here, mind you, but Radath seems to love patient dragons and to have cultivated a loving community.

What kind of population and economy does Atneypoltiai have'?

Swaivshon, Vrash, and Vashael live in a cozy society here, with very impressive southern-Swaivshon construction typically built with deep foundations of a firm resilience that only a Vrash hardening the ground can achieve, even as a narrow verticality reaches for the sky in a modification of Vashael construction priorities. This low-density society with its tall towers has skyway balconies between it where flying dragons can land and walk without flight between neighboring buildings. There is however a lack of private housing, as the Swaivshon-architected settlements of 'Atney' (as it is fondly called) are built with heavy use of shared spaces.

Between the towers of Atney at ground level there are Vrash farms which supply part of the theome's food. However, due to its severe northern latitude it has a short growing season, and food imports are still essential. Evermines and everquarries also work out of the mountains. These and products crafted from their output are sold to provide for the price of imported food. Atney is seen as a place where good labors are well-respected.

Atney is not just a popular place to visit. The stunning tower architecture and 'shared mansion' environments combined with the touch-friendly Swaivshon society to make it a popular immigration destination. However, the local Vrash are typically nudists, which can create some friction with visiting Vrash, as Vrash societies in other theomes are typically quite proud of their attire. Clothing shops are a distinct rarity in Atney, and locals are more commonly found steaming with channeled fire energies than wearing clothes to guard against the cold. Geomantic amulets of warmth are a popular souvenir for those who do visit Atney just for a while.

For reasons generally lovely, caravans on the north-south trade corridor that leads to the nearby pass tend to lose headcount when they pass through Atney.

What is Radath like?

Radath incarnates as a Swaivshon... and really, just a Swaivshon. He has white body fur and a red mane. He was active in the theome's first era governance, encouraging the theome's first residents to develop their signature architectural style in the way that makes Atney stand out so picturesquely, but since then he has tended to recede from view to become just another citizen of the theome, albeit one who is truly invulnerable, quite good at any task, and occasionally multiply incarnate. He's a friendly, hardworking dragon who is rumored to have about five avatars active at any given time, supporting the theome by completing some of its most difficult, dangerous work orders.

What is the Fate Beacon that Radath maintains over Atneypoltiai?

The local Dream Beacon helps maintain Atney as a place with immigration-fueled population growth. Gentler on distant fates than a Visit Me Beacon, the theome has needed no help to attract tourists... though part of that may be that it is the northernmost extent of the region cluster starting in Ghavest and Velrilari, which already HAS a Visit Me Beacon. People visiting one typically also visit the other!
