Personal history
Nattil Tain was the son of Brunar Tain and cousin of Lar Herad Dannur Tain. Nattil's father died when he was young, and so his uncle sent the young boy to stay with his mother's family in Virans.
After reaching adulthood, Nattil went to study in Malburn college, staying on afterwards as an assistant master. During his study, he came under the influence of Chancellor Bauxtice Pellon, who used him as link between the royal government and the college, getting Nattil to send able students to see him. Nattil was also an avid sailor, leading the college boating team on its annual sail around Lake Yekar. Nattil also met a young Qamron Osvar at the college when the boy just arrived to study. Nattil left the college the year after.
In 423 PT, Nattil was invited to Ferran's Hold by Pellon to serve as his assistant spymaster. Nattil stayed in this role until early 425 PT, when Pellon forced the elderly spymaster from power. King Pulus I was convinced to put the young Tain into the role. When the war broke out, Tain was responsible for sending the assassins to dispose of Prince Durwn in Buzghasar. After hearing of their failure, Pellon sent Tain with more assassins to intercept the prince himself.
Tain piloted the ship Black Cutter in the Cyraic Ocean. After the Ghosts of the Cyraic defeated his assassins, Tain tried to retreat back to Ferraria in order to inform Pellon of Durwn's arrival. However, the Ghosts boarded the Black Cutter and Osvar, Tain's former student, killed him.
