Personal history
Acanth I was the thirteenth king of Ferraria and the first after the Republian occupation of Ferraria. He led a rebellion against the Republian Overseer council and their puppet Queen Netitey with his father Stavin Oboror.
Acanth Oboror started the rebellion when he captured the Montarbatten family castle in the Dellanix mountains. Many nobles families rallied behind him and his father, and Acanth waged war against Republia in the northern and eastern regions of Ferraria while his more experienced father attacked in the south and west. Eventually, Acanth had forced the Republian forces into retreat and joined his forces with the army of the people and laid siege to the capital and ancient Oboror home of Ferran's Hold. After six months, the city fell and the most of the continent was back under the rule of the Oboror family, with Acanth I as the monarch. Acanth's father was killed in the final weeks of the war whilst fighting off a Republian reinforcement army on Lake Yekar. Acanth was coronated by a decree from the Ironmoot the day he captured Ferran's Hold, as he proved himself to be one worthy of wearing Ferran's crown. Acanth's great-great-great grandfather was king King Ferran the Second.
Acanth spent much of his reign purging Republian from Ferraria, whilst also trying to restore the ancient alliances between the Ferrarian nobility. Acanth, in order to preserve his popularity, also invaded The Sheet and brought the ice clans into the Ferrarian fold. The Ferrarian economy had been intentionally stifled by the Overseer council, so Acanth worked to revive it. Republians who survived the purges were enslaved and sent to work in the new mines or to rebuild the industrial banks on the River Hyrame. Acanth also reorganised the Ferrarian military, building border fortresses in Duskgloam and instituting a permanent draft to boost numbers.
Acanth never ended the war against Republia, but pressured them for a ceasefire agreement by making stronger alliances with the nations of the Septagon.
Acanth died peacefully in his sleep at the age 43 after 24 years of stressful rule. He was succeeded by his son Geoth III .
