Mayoralty of Sunrock
The Mayoralty of Sunrock is the name given to the form of government that has been practiced in the town for thousands of years, since the settlement was liberated from the invaders from the Dark Domains in 227 APC.
According to this constitution, power is divided between the Lord Mayor or Lady Mayoress of Sunrock and the Sunrock Commonality, both elected separately by all property owning inhabitants of the town over the age of thirty.
The Lord Mayor or Lady Mayoress is elected every twenty years and chairs the meetings of the Sunrock Commonality, a legislative body of sixty elected members who are voted into power in ten yearly elections that select for a rotating third of the places each time. Thus after the vote, a member of the Commonality will not come up for re-election for thirty years. A number of different parties have been represented in the Commonality over the ages.
Other governmental appointments were and are at the discretion of the Lord Mayor or Lady Mayoress of Sunrock and not subject to voting. The most notable of these titles is the Cloud-Marquess or Marchioness of Sunrock, a role associated with the Sky Lords and first created during the age of the Four Aerial Courts.
