Daramin Colleck
Daramin Colleck was the Arcane Chancellor of the Institute of Magical Analytics between 3185 APC and 3231 APC, a difficult period in the history of the institute, when the Unbound were making a play for power, within and beyond Quarowl.
He was humiliated by the Unbound when they took control of the production of Synaptic Unbinding Potion in 3192 APC and moved it to secret locations where their members had exclusive access to manage production and distribution. This was the start of a time that came to be called the Synaptic Squeeze by the mages of the day.
Thereafter, it was an open question as to how much power he really retained, or whether he had become just a figurehead and an administrator for the Deep Perceptor.
Yet Daramin continued to resist and tried by a variety of subtle means to restore his power. He allied himself with Lady Penelope Northberry and later with Clarise Vabatan when she came to Quarowl in 3229 APC, turning a blind eye to their origins, although he almost certainly understood that the Sisters of Vabatan had unsavory pasts. His hope was that they might provide him with intelligence and leverage over the Deep Perceptor.
Matters came to a climax in 3231 APC as related in Volume 8 of the Diary of Clarise Vabatan. In the chaotic aftermath of the conflict known as the Trouble Below, when a force of the Unbound, led by Deep Perceptor Avelin Saerkh killed a number of his proctors and inflicted significant damage on the Quarowl High Guard who were reinforcing them, Daramin fled into exile at Greystow.
He was replaced by Haldam Sutterby, a professor sympathetic to the Unbound and indeed, as came to light soon afterwards, a member of their group. Daramin Colleck died at Greystow in 3248 APC.
