At different times in her long lifetime, she adopted different aliases to disguise her identity. These are shown in the table below, which is hidden as a spoiler if the reader has not yet read the Diary of Clarise Vabatan and wishes to avoid foreknowledge of key events,   Clarise Vabatan's Aliases
Alias Used Notes
Jayne Fen 3134 to 3136 For a brief period of two years, whilst recovering from her faked death, Clarise lived in exile in Highloft under the protection of Zhao Yun Chi and adopted this name to work as a servant, incognito in the city, until she was unmasked.
Angelica Terathyl 3136 to 3152 Clarise took this name in 3136 when she left Highloft and fled to Jebbin City, taking the identity of a novice of the Way of the Harmonic Path. She gave it up when she finally left the Foundation Stone Song House in 3152.
Sobell Dalunor 3152 to 3180 The false name of Sobell Dulanor, a supposedly minor aristocrat from Jebbin City, was the one Clarise used during her time at Zalgurim and for a few years afterwards. She dropped it when she went to Pale in 3180.
Pymiss Roe 3180 to 3223 An identity Clarise adopted at the end of the 32nd century and beginning of the 33rd when she operated as a hedge mage for a few years, wandering throughout Myruthea.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Clarise Vabatan was born in the northern Punjuki city of Katrapetch in the year 3031 APC. Her father owned a small business weaving and curing the local fabric known as vassith and her mother ran a garment factory on Sowsow street. At an early age Clarise exhibited an aptitude for magic, finding a position in the court of the Raja as a member of the Arcane Advisors where she quickly became a favourite of the ruler.   The private diary of this infamous mage, which was only published long after her death, provides a shocking account of her crimes during the Time of Terrors.

Sexuality

Clarise Vabatan was famously bisexual with a preference for lesbian relations, often of a particularly perverse kind which found expression in the rites and rituals of the secretive Sisters of Vabatan. When her private diary was published, long after her death, it exposed many shocking details of the nature of the organisation she had founded and led and it was read with widespread and salacious interest.

Education

Clarise had a basic education in arcane techniques in childhood, before her natural talents were identified and she became a junior member of the Arcane Advisors. This is where her advanced training really began, under the guidance of Kieran Bolgurin, the Arcane Wisdoms, Sudharma Vyas and Ruthema Sivaira and the Senior Magician of Katrapetch, Drithald Unkeld. She also learned advanced interrogation and warding techniques from the Katrapetch Royal Judicial Service, but what made her unique was her self study inspired by the Crimson Codex, her visit to the Blood Iris Sisters and later, her Moon Pregnancy, all of which gave her unparalleled knowledge of blood magic.   Whilst hiding from the Katrapetch authorities in the 32nd century, she masqueraded as a priestess of the Way of the Harmonic Path using the alias of 'Angelica Terathyl' and acquired the necessary musical skills to continue the deception with help from Bryony Paquem.
