Book Scorpion
Book Scorpions are known for their love of eating book mites. They are considered good luck in libraries and archives as they feed on a number of different types of lice, mites, and moth eggs. Some wizards and archivists have cultivated strains of the them.
The most interesting variants are the Giant book scorpions (half an inch long), and the rare sentient book scorpions. The sentient ones are considered a form of Insectoid While giant book scorpions live for around 6 years, it is unkonwn how long the sentient ones live. They tend to not discuss it much.

Basic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
Book scorpions go through multiple stages, with the first taking a year or two. The sentient variety then awakens due to exposure to dimensional magic, one of the Awakening Humours and some other exposure. While standard book scorpions live up to six years, it is unknown how long the sentient variety lives.
Show Spoiler
It turns out awakened book scorpions only live about twelves years, however most find a way of transfering their conciousness to descendants who have been exposed to both the awakening humours and dimensional fields. How many times they can successfully transfer their consiousness is unknown, or if it is they don't want it known.
Behaviour
Most that operate within other cultures and societies will adopt some mannerisms of the prominent culture, even if they don't understand it or have the emotions for certain behaviors. They often operate as methodical archivists or mages. Using a mix of illusions, telekenisis, and telepathy to communicate and interact with the world around them. Due to their near constant use of illusion and telekenisis they often have more complex, strong, and consistant capabilities with those magics.
They tend to have interest in keeping hidden and there are only four known book scorpions. Papyrus the Archivist of the Ninefold Academy of Artificers, Nib the Bookmaker of Soramizu, Caseing the Collector in the Land of the Great Tree, and Book Knife the Recovorist who is also known as Knife the deadly blade. Their ages are guessed, but Nib has been around about 120 years, the others far less. Each uses illusions or magically built bodies to interact with the world.

Naming Traditions
They usually name themselves based on books, libarires, or bookbinding tools.
Gender Ideals
