Aurora Point
"It's a delightful little place to exist. We are happy here." - Clara Beauregard, in a letter to her sister MarcillaAurora Point was a small island off the eastern coast of Beurum.
"Those from this community who perished in the Twenty-Year War, who gave up lives of peace and prosperity to fight for a ruler they barely knew, and one who did not know them. This community was abandoned with so many of us gone." - Tablet engraving in the ruins of the Aurora Point FisheryThe island saw little activity throughout recorded history. Several attempts to settle the place were made by Arqu wood elves during the First, Second, and Third eras to settle the island, but each attempt proved to not be worth the trouble. In the Second Era, a cult worshiping the kraken Rak'Satur built a small settlement at the island. It was abandoned and overgrown when Rak'Satur destroyed the cultists. In the Fourth Era, a sleepy, unnamed fishing village was built on Aurora Point's southern tip. However, much of the island's population was conscripted to fight in the Twenty-Year War, and most that were sent off died. The remaining settlers, unable to operate with so little manpower, abandoned the fishery. Some years after this abandonment of the island, at the war's end, the Sunlit Isles Trading Company chose to hide an experimental war machine called Malevolence 5 in a cave system on the island. Though the manufacturers of the machine, Andromeda Corporation, urged the Trebai Ascendancy to destroy these machines, the Ascendancy refused, prompting the hideaway. In 8057, a decade after the end of the war, a group of settlers moved to the island to begin hunting the red-tail deer that inhabited the area. In 8075, Makovai dwarves set up a mining operation on the opposite island. Both groups were destroyed when the dwarves accidentally unleashed Malevolence Five, a highly dangerous leftover weapon from the Twenty-Year War, upon the island. The monster was destroyed by a group of heroes under the direction of Marcilla Beauregard, who had come to the island after she lost contact with her sister, who lived there. Years later, Beauregard established a temple to the goddess Deonea on the island. She chose Aurora Point as the temple's location in an attempt to cleanse the island of its past troubles.
Geography
The island was located far to the north of Beurum's eastern coast, in the Old Elvish Mountains region. It was one of many islands in the area, covered with thick forests and rocky terrain.
Fauna & Flora
Among the island's most notable fauna was the red-tail deer. The species was prized for the pelts it yielded, and was thought to have been hunted to extinction in the First Era. In the Fifth Era, however, red-tail deer were rediscovered on islands like Aurora Point. This resulted in the construction of a small hunting commune on the island, Red Tail Village.
Natural Resources
Though the island's most valuable resource was the red-tail deer, the landmass also included a cave system which yielded sizable amounts of scrambled parlanium ore. A group of Makovai dwarves set up a small, short-lived mining operation on the island during the Fifth Era.
In addition, fishing activities around the island often resulted in large catches.
