Damatis

the farmer

Damatis the farmer was, unlike the name suggest, alot more than that. He was a true master of bending nature to the benefit of his kin, and get as much resources from it is as possible. Damatis had already tackled alot of problems on his homeplanet Vesa, and he managed to convince Aethos that he could do the same for the humans on Tera. During the Salvation he took a more passive stance in the hunting of titans, and instead focussed on learning about the fauna and flora on this strange planet. His time with the early farmers around the Aeldor river was particularly educative, as these communities had already laid the foundation on what would become the primary source of food in the future. At first Damatis was the student, but he quickly surpassed the knowledge of the farmers and started to improve their methods until he considered them perfect.

By now the war against the titans was nearly over. The last place they wanted to secure was the sea of men , but it proved to be difficult as the sea was connected with the outside, titan infested, waters by two straits. As these straits could be used by titans to gain acces to the sea of man it would only be a matter of time before they returned. Damatis solved this problem by, with help of the merfolk , planting a gigantic forest of celestial kelp in the eastern strait. This kelp radiated with power of the creator, Aethos, and had a repelling effect on the titans. When Damatis's kinbrother Bolkion blocked the western strait with a lighthouse that had a simular effect, the sea of men was now safe for mankind to traverse. Then the vesajan farmer continued to spread his knowledge all around the world before making a home in Suthria .

Inhabitants of the southern continent, called nomads because of their continual migration, had always been dependant of the yearly cycle caused by the Mark and the changing environment that came with it. Together with Avast the hunter, they set on a mission to rid the southern continent of hunger. Avast embraced their nomadic lifestyle, and learned them where and how to find food during the periods of scarecity. Damatis had another vision the the matter.

While agriculture was already commonly practiced on the other continents, the nomads of Suthria had never heird of it. Damatis wanted to introduce it to them, enabling the creation of a permanent home and making migration redundant. There are however few places in Suthria suitable for this, as access to water is needed all year around. The Crown of Suthria and the Atrevi river that runs through it had always been a sanctuary during the dry period, and Damatis found the place perfect for learning the nomads his craft.

Many crops were introduced to the south, most importantly different kinds of grains and beans, but over time many types of fruits and vegetables would also be grown. Also more native crops like sugarcane, olives and figs were taken from the wild and grown in a controlled environment. Many nomads no longer felt the need to migrate, and opted to make a home in the crown, resulting in the founding of the 3 grand-cities of Maldem, Arti and Kos. The title of nomad no longer suited them, and they were given a new name: settlers. While the method of the vesajan hunter Avast was alot different than that Damatis, both cultures complimented eachother and would trade different goods on a massive scale. The food problem in the south seemed solved.

Over the years the economy of the settlers shifted more northwards, towards east-Theria who seemed to have more desired resources than the nomads at better rates. After a while the settlers became independant of their nomadic counterparts, and considered the trade with them no longer beneficial. The nomads on the other hand remained dependant on the settlers, aspecially during dry periods. This disbalance in power proved to be fatal during one particularly dry period, and the nomads once again turned to the settlers for survival. Sadly alot of food in the crown was flowing to Theria, and as a result there was no longer enough for both southern groups. The nomads could no longer meet the price the settlers asked for food, which forced them to resort to stealing and criminality. In the north The god-wars had already started after Arkun attacked the east, and Damatis decided to follow his example. He used the dismay of the settlers to declare war on the nomads. The nomads were cleansed from the Crown, and would never be allowed to return. Two centuries of war later, Damatis received word that Aethos had returned. Knowing his time had come, he sat himself down on his throne in Maldem one more time before disappearing forever.

Ascendants

Damatis had not felt the urge of ascending any humans, as he always had been in control of the situation. It was only at the very end of the god-wars, during the siege of Kos by Rekna's "Prima Rekna", he felt his position was at risk, and decided to share a fraction of his power with some individuals in his army. As a result there are not many left today that wield his magic. It is unknown which improvements these ascended underwent.
