Palasar River
A giant river that bisects northern Tolesh. It flows from the northern mountains and forms the eastern border of the Riddari. It empties in the Galene Sea via a trio of waterfalls at Point Royal. At certain points, it widens out into huge lakes and can be several miles wide. It is pronounced "puh-LAY-sir", or puh-lay-SIR". It is often called "The River" or the "Great River".
Geography
Width: At its source, the Palasari River is about 20 feet wide. The widest spot today is just south of Rivers Meet, where the river is 2.5 miles wide. If you include the lakes i through which the river passes, then the widest spot is actually up to 10 miles wide.
Speed: At the headwaters, the river’s surface speed is 1.2 miles per hour, while at RIvers Meet it is usually around 3 miles per hour. On the lakes in northern Khota there is very little current.
Volume (discharge): At the Headwaters, the Palasar River’s average volume is 6 cubic feet per second. (One cubic foot of water is about 7 1/2 gallons.) Downriver, the average volume increases to 12,000 cubic feet per second at the Bonsk, 186,000 cubic feet per second at Axirite Gardens, and 600,000 cubic feet per second at Rivers Meet. In the great floods, the river can reach a volume of 1,080,000 cubic feet per second.
Depth: At the Headwaters, the Palasar is 3 feet deep; depths vary widely along the river. Through the northern lakes, the river averages 20-32 feet deep. Sections of the Upper Palasar south of the lakes were sometimes shallow enough in late summer that people could walk from one bank to the other. The average depth in the main channel is typically around 12 feet. Away from the main channel, however, the water can still be very shallow. South of Rivers Meet, where the Riddari River joins the Palasar, the river averages 50-100 feet deep. The deepest point along the river is just north of Point Royal where it reaches 200 feet deep.
