Moors
Between southern tip of the Right Arm of Tolesh to the northern reach of the Galene Sea is a southward sloping land known as Moors. In the northern section of this territory, at the high end of the slope against the Right Arm of Tolesh lies vast expanses of forests of giant pines. These forests were largely spared during the building of the empire because of their close proximity to BINE (danger of raiding parties) and the difficulty in transporting the lumber compared to floating it down the Palasar River. As a result, the forests are wild and largely unexplored. Many rivers and estuaries run down from the Right Arm of Tolesh to the see in the Moors. As the slope drops and levels out closer to the sea, the water tends to pool and back up. The rivers and streams meander and double back on themselves. This has created vast tracks of marshy areas. These marshes are notorious for sucking down horse and rider alike. There are many stories of mysterious disappearances in the Moors. This is partially due to geography, partially wild animals and monsters in the uncivilized tracks, and partially due to the proximity to BINE, which operates covert raids in the obscuring swamps.
The coast of the Moors are dotted with settlements. Due to the proximity to the Satara Ocean and other countries, and because the deltas and crooked shorelines are great hiding places, the Moors is a haven for less than legal sea trade. Additionally, different races (non-human) are much, much more common here. This land is controlled mostly by the Kingdom of CORASINE of the KVASSI Empire to the west, and the Kindgom of BINE to the east. Both countries send raiding and spying parties out through the fens, and skirmishes are not unheard of, though never "officaited".
Geography
In the northern section of this territory, at the high end of the slope against the Right Arm of Tolesh lies vast expanses of forests of giant pines. These forests were largely spared during the building of the empire because of their close proximity to BINE (danger of raiding parties) and the difficulty in transporting the lumber compared to floating it down the Palasar River . As a result, the forests are wild and largely unexplored. They are vast and wild, with not only the Bine to worry about, but also animals and monsters both local and migrating from the tall mountains to the north.
Many rivers and estuaries run down from the Right Arm of Tolesh to the see in the Moors. To the south, as the slope drops and levels out closer to the sea, the water tends to pool and back up. The rivers and streams meander and double back on themselves. This has created vast tracks of marshy areas. These marshes are notorious for sucking down horse and rider alike. Broad stretches of tall reeds line the twisting and curving coastline. Deep muddy pools spread out in unexpected places, and stagnant black-water streams crisscross the landscape.
