Nadesh
Nadesh is a territory in the east of Palabran. It was conquered over 200 years ago, but its people retain a strong sense of culture and identity, viewing themselves as separate from Palabran at-large. As such, law in Nadesh is enforced directly by the Stratavads.

Religion
Fortune-worship is mandated in Nadesh. Almost all of its people publicly worship the Fortunes out of fear for their lives. However, beneath the surface, many people still worship the old gods of Nadesh—spirits of great power who are still capable of performing great deeds. Among these are the Great Hathi—powerful elephant spirits who have watched over the Nadeshi rivers for centuries.Spirits
A number of spirits call Ajarda home. Their existence is tolerated, though worship of spirits is not. Aside from the sorts of spirits you'd find in Palabran proper—mayura and piskans and ogres—many hathi—or elephant spirits—and rakshasa—tiger spirits—also call Nadesh home.Territories
Natural Geography
Nadesh is a lush, beautiful land where old-growth deciduous forests grow up along a profusion of rivers and streams. The soil is rich and the rainfall is plentiful. Many of the rivers that cut through the Nadeshi Riverlands are known for flooding in the spring and summer. "Flood seasons," as these times are known, are important times in Nadesh—and many gatherings and celebrations are held through this season.Human Geography

Cuisine
Nadeshi cuisine is distinct and different from Palabrani cuisine, though the Palabrani influence is certainly felt. Distinctively Nadeshi cuisine is known for its rich, buttery flavors. Common dishes include red chicken curries, barbecued buffalo flanks, and mustard-green stews—all of which are commonly served with red rice and cornbread.Nadesh
