The Great Engine
The Great Engine is the nation that came before all modern life on Novidera. Though most of their civilization has been lost to time, the main evidence that the ancients even existed are The Great Engines. The second piece of evidence most scholars point to is the Soul-Steam residue that can be found in a few key locations. Some even go as far as to believe that the mass Soul Crystal deposits are sites of a mass genocide of the ancient race. While the exact cause of their disappearance is unknown many suspect that the Engines of Creation has something to do with it.
Structure
While their exact organizational dynamic is unknown. Many believe that because evidence of their civilization can be found on every continent. They believe them to have been a global empire of some sort, with separate states or provinces governing some parts, a few theorized to span most of entire continents.
History
How the Great Engine rose and fell is a question most scholars have debated as long as the world has known of their existence. Some say the existed a few millennia ago while others believe they lived over a few hundred megaannum ago.
There disappearance is another mystery often debated. Some say it was disease, others suspect the suspicious crater in the South. But most commonly it is believed to be the work of the Engines of Creations, whether on purpose of by accident the engines are often suspected to be the thing that brought about the end of their civilization.
