Vanyalindarë

This is the area south of the Northern Mountains and the country of the Kaelhaven Dominion and to the north of the Southern Mountains. It then runs from the east of the Forest of Pillars, all the way to the Bay of Spires.

History

The ruins of Erimos were present even before The Great Upheaval. Whatever civilization that had built the ruins were long lost even then. Only the name they gave the region, Vanyalindarë, remained. The country of Cebrea, which inhabited the region before the Great Upheaval fell into chaos after the earth shattering event. Almost immediately the government was ripped apart and the region fell into a series of loosely affiliated towns with very little governmental structure.

Escape From The Wars

After the defeat of the Great Wyrm Egesa in 54 AGU part of her army fled up the north of the west coast, trying to find a safe harbor where they could be far removed from the influence of the newly founded Manconian Empire.

The force traveled for many months, looking for a place to settle. Eventually, in the year 56 AGU they came upon the Bay of Spires, an old bay that was marred with the scars of the Great Upheaval. The waters were no longer suitable for large ships, it was little more than a deep swamp. Along the bay they discovered a massive ruined city, its origins forgotten by those who still lived there. The people living there called the place Erimos

Founding of a Kingdom

The army took over the city with no resistance, many people welcomed the organization the army brought. By the year 58 AGU the force had taken control of the area around Erimos. The leaders of the army proclaimed themselves nobles and formed the Kingdom of Lindaria. By the end of the first century AGU, they had gained control of the whole region of Vanyalindarë.

For the next few centuries the region was pretty well isolated from the rest of the Shattered Kingdoms. There was some contact with settlements on the other side of the mountains to the north, but due to the treacherous pass, contact was limited and there was little trade.

The Silver Age

Over these centuries the Kingdom of Lindaria grew strong and eventually the bonds of comradeship that formed the kingdom, their united front as the forces of Egesa, was lost to time. This was an age of adventure and intrigue. Nobles grew stronger and over the years several even tried to rebel against the king or to succeed from the kingdom.

The Fall of a Kingdom

One of the last wars, before the fall of Lindaria was the War of the Silver Coin. It took place in 411 AGU. There was a buildup of animosity and some conflicts between the three main forces leading up to the war. The last straw was when the Silver Coin of Egasa, the object that invested the king with power, was stolen by one of the nobles. That caused the start of the war and it lasted 3 years till 414 AGU.

The war severely weakened the kingdom and starting in 432 there was a series of famines and plagues that finally saw to the final collapse of the kingdom. Many of the cities began to govern themselves, some of them continued to be ruled over by nobles, but others found themselves needing to form their own governments. That’s when the merchants began to gain strength. By 455 AGU the various merchant domains of Vanyalindarë began to work together and the Erimos Consortium, a coalition of merchants, took over governing the region of Vanyalindarë

Recent History

The year is now 485 AGU and the Erimos Consortium is the undisputed ruler of Vanyalindarë. The region has regained much of its vibrancy since the disasters that befell the area and is a thriving plutocracy. The time of being separated from the other people of Shattered Kingdoms is coming to an end. Over the mountains to the south of the region the Manconian Empire has expanded and now their settlements are just at the base of the other side of the mountains. There is some trade between them and the Erimos Consortium, but it is limited.

The Consortium is much more concerned with the kingdom lying over the mountains to the north, the Kaelhaven Dominion. There is a strong flow of trade, the pass having been expanded over the decades, but the tension between the two countries is growing and the Consortium is building up an army in case it breaks out into conflict.
