Saela Vaylen
Founder of Armonia -- Saint of the Blooming Light
In the earliest days of Armonia, when its marble foundations had only just been laid and the dream of a neutral sanctuary flickered in fragile hope, it was Saela Vaylen of House Caldrith who answered when death came knocking.
A high Medico of rare Spark and gentler spirit, Saela stood not as a warrior, but as a protector. Yolena Emari, sovereign of the Emarian Moors, unleashed her necrotic legions in a bid to crush the nascent Bastion of Healing, it was Saela who turned the tide.
On the seventh night of siege, as the defenders faltered and the central orchards were reduced to ash, Saela strode barefoot into the broken plaza. There, she unleashed the Pulse of Verdancy, a radiant wave of life magic that tore through rot and ruin. Soldiers rose, wounds sealed, crops in fields around the city erupted from barren soil, and the very air was purged of decay. The undead withered beneath her light. The Moors recoiled. The Emarian forces retreated back to the safety of their swamp.
But the cost was grave: Saela collapsed as the final threads of Spark drained from her. For a decade, she would walk as a husk of herself — frail, but revered. Her sacrifice enshrined Armonia’s sovereignty, proving that life, when wielded with purpose, could repel even death's dominion. Inspired, the rest of the Medico founders of Armonia banded together to cast the barrier defenses along the foundation stones. Several attempts by Yolena to send assassins to finish off Vaylen in her weakened state were thwarted by the city. The defenses would be improved in the years that followed, and continues to be the lattice that supports Armonian defenses.
The statue of Saela Vaylen in Verdancy Plaza now marks the place where she cast her miracle, and each year the city blooms in her name, the area around the spot where the Pulse was cast the first area in the nation to spring thaw from winter's hold.
