Emarian Moors
The Emarian Moors, located to the south and east of the Indovene Confederacy, is a land defined by swamps, marshes, and dense, misty jungles. The heart of this nation lies a sprawling, dangerous expanse of swampland that is as much a territorial fortress as it is a source of power. The Emarian Moors is built on primal energy, raw emotion, and a fierce rejection of the stoic and disciplined lifestyle upheld by their northern neighbors in the Confederation.
While Indovenes are cool-headed and methodical in their pursuit of power, Emmarians are driven by passion and impulsiveness. They are a people who do not fear embracing their fury, whether in battle, politics, or daily life. Warriors in the Emarian Moors are often young, fueled by the Yuri drug, which grows naturally in the moors and is cultivated for both military purposes and the indulgence of the people. This nation’s reliance on Yuri-fueled combatants, often child soldiers, makes them both feared and reviled by their neighbors.
Bloodline Powers
- Sylvan Magic: The Emari family’s connection to nature is intense and primal, allowing them to manipulate plant life, summon fierce storms, and influence the swamp’s ecosystem to defend their lands. This affinity with nature’s raw power makes them a formidable force, capable of controlling the environment itself, but also deeply connected to the life-force of the land.
- Necrotic Magic: Rumors persist that the Emaris have subverted the natural balance of life and death. They wield necromancy in secret, raising undead warriors to bolster their ranks. These necrotic powers not only increase the family's strength but also grant them extended longevity, which Yolena seems to be exploiting. This dark magic is highly forbidden among many in the land, and the Emaris’ ability to combine life and death is seen as a terrifying perversion of the natural order.
Government and Politics
The Emarian Moors is lead by the Emari Family, specifically Yolena Emari, who maintains absolute control over all political and military matters. Beneath them, are the Yuri-Fueled Warriors, the Threnai, who are treated with a level of respect but also expendability, as both their lifespan and power are fleeting. The Threnai, are often raised in youth camps and recruited at a young age to fight in the raiding parties that form the bulk of the Emarian military. Their bodies are pushed to the limits through constant Yuri usage, giving them extraordinary strength, speed, and battle prowess, but at a great cost to their health and longevity. It is common for a Yuri-fueled warrior to die in their early twenties, either in battle or from the exhaustion of their powers.
While the Emari Family holds direct control, there are also a number of vassal families who have pledged loyalty to the Emaris in exchange for their own power, privileges, and access to Yuri supply. These families maintain local ruleover certain regions of the swamps but ultimately answer to the Matriarch in all matters of importance.
