Honamaya

Home to the tallest peaks in all of the World (barring the Heart, of course), Honamaya is a cold and windy land where only the hardiest make their homes. The original homeland of the Aarakocra and Caprin, it's still rare to see members of other species living here. Travel is difficult on the rocky, winding footpaths - visitors to the capital or other major cities are advised to take balloons or airship when possible.

Getting Around

Honamaya is a notoriously difficult place to navigate. Cities and towns are linked by treacherous footpaths, typically only wide enough for single-file lines and far too narrow for any pack animals bigger than a moa. Rickety rope bridges cross gaps in the mountains, rebuilt often after avalanches or sudden storms rip them to pieces. Getting goods between locations requires dedicated teams of porters, so most towns are as self-sufficient as they possibly can be. Larger cities have the luxury of a workforce that can transform sheer cliff into comfortably wide staircases, or build magically-powered gondolas to quickly move people and cargo up and down elevation or across chasms. Those who have the luxury to do so find it far easier to travel by air. The native aarakocra make good use of this ability, but Saqra riders and airship pilots can earn excellent coin working in this region, and can find docks in nearly every city.

Travel Tips:

If you have the opportunity, seeing Honamaya from the air is a magnificent way to experience the region. While hiking the peaks can be exhilarating, it's also tremendously exhausting. Airship travel allows one to see the mountains in all their splendor with much less trouble.   -Rodanté
