She paid her bill and stepped outside to get some air and quiet. It kind of worked, all of the voices were muffled, but now she heard new ones. It was almost like she was hearing the thoughts of everyone around her. But there's no way that was possible... or was there?

Personal history
Born in the December of 1989. As a young girl, Elizabeth Walters grew up partially in the Waterfront District with her parents. She had a relatively normal childhood, or at least what she thought was normal. Elizabeth’s parents were in the military and so they moved around quite a bit. They started out with her birth in Dustria City but soon after were stationed in Europe for a good amount of time. Long enough to take advantage of being in such close proximity to some of the best sights in the world. The entirety of London, the Christmas Markets of Germany, and even the Eiffel Tower a couple of times.
But then her family was moved to the mainland and they bounced around from location to location there for a period of time. After a few years Elizabeth would soon discover what heartbreak was when her first relationship ended. But she made new friends and eventually moved on. But one fateful day her family was to return to Europe.
She was distressed at first but after a period of time and two heartbreaks later, she had the epiphany that returning to Europe was the best thing that could have happened to her. She met some of the most wonderful people she had ever met, none of whom shared even remotely similar background except for some pairs of siblings. She met somebody who she was convinced was her soulmate.
The two weren’t at the surface all that alike but on a more complex level the two resonated and harmonized like a world-class orchestra. For the first time in a while she felt pure joy at the mere sight of somebody. She felt love. But the fates are never kind. In 2007, Elizabeth had to move again. Back to Dustria City. But before she left, she gave a ring to her love. A ring which she had held onto for four years at that point. Her love also moved, but without telling anyone. Elizabeth never could quite figure out why they didn’t tell her. But she was back in Dustria City now, back in the Waterfront District. She didn’t have any way to contact her love but there was one thing she held on to. A promise. A promise that she would see her love again one day. And she never breaks a promise.
She set out to make work for herself so that she wouldn’t have to bounce around the world with her parents anymore. She had always possessed a seemingly unnatural quick wit, and she put that to use. She became a Private Investigator for anyone who would need one. She became content, saving up money to make a trip to see her love again. But one day in 2016 she received a letter in the mail.
A letter which invited her to Gemstone Industries for a one time only facilities tour. She attended and at the end of the tour she was given a nice Amethyst ring to keep as a souvenir. It was part of a special line of Rings Gemstone began to release. Fate was soon to be very unkind to Elizabeth once again. That night she finished an investigation she couldn’t quite wrap her head around for a while and decided to celebrate by visiting her favorite sushi bar, Sowari’s.
While there she was subject to a sudden bombardment of voices within her head that were not her own. She left immediately to get fresh air and space. Being skilled at putting two and two together, she came to the conclusion that she was hearing other people’s thoughts. She rushed home to begin working to figure out why she had this power now. Her first instinct was to investigate the other people who were on the Gemstone facility tour. During the tour she took inventory of the others there, a construction worker, a museum night guard, a student, a teacher, a police officer, and an heir to a major casino in the city. She figured the teacher, Maurice Williams, would be the easiest to track down and contact. So she got to work on doing just that.
After a few weeks of work she tracked Maurice down at his work in the Kindle District High School. She explained to him that she had the powers to read minds and knew that he had the power to control fire and that both were because of the rings they had received from Gemstone. He in turn told her about the job offer he received from the Chief of police in Dustria City. They both visited the 17th Precinct later that day and sure enough, Richard Briggs was waiting. He offered Maurice a job as the leader of a new investigation team for ring empowered individuals and when hearing about Elizabeth’s powers as well, offered her a job on the same team. She accepted and became the information gatherer of the team. As time went on they began to recruit more ring-bearers to their team such as Thomas Jones, Neil Sanders, and the man who created the rings, Alexander Rite.
