Climate: The tropical climate, characterized by unyielding heat year-round, has a rainfall pattern that follows a seasonal dance. For the three winter months of the year, abundant showers turn the plains into a lush tapestry of flowers and green fast growing plants. This growth slows down as rainfall gradually becomes more limited for the next month. Finally, the dry season sets in and the remainder of the year offers only sporadic thunderstorms. As the dry weather sets in, the formerly lush plains become arind and the vegetation begins to brown.

Wildlife: Tropical savanna dominates Xul’tarnu, where tall grasses sway on the plains and scattered trees provide refuge for the diverse wildlife. Common wildlife includes large herds of antelopes, gazelles and wildebeests.

Humanoids: Today the land of Xul’tarnu finds itself mostly uninhabited by humans. However, there are still a few small tribes of mutated former humans living in the south. The Ganzi, vilely corrupted into unusual forms by the chaos storms of long ago, dwell in primitive communities, often near colossal ancestral ruins. Having forgotten their human roots, they eke out a harsh existence in crude mudbrick and wooden structures, living in small walled villages. They engage in rudimentary trade with the humans of Zandaria to the south, exchanging raw gemstones and gold nuggets for goods they no longer have the technology to produce.

Monsters: A home to many dangerous aberrations left over from the chaos storms which once plagued the land, the great savanna of Xul’tarnu presents a mortal danger to peaceful travelers. While these monstrosities become less common in the southern half of the land, the greatest numbers of these aberrations can be found in the remains of the old cities. As places of great danger, these old ruins also contain valuable treasures, drawing the attention of many adventurers seeking riches in this lost land.

Among the unusual creatures that live in the savanna, the Antali Striders pose the greatest danger to travellers. These large and intelligent flightless birds have sharp claws and mouths full of razor-sharp teeth. Running swiftly across the plains in packs, they pose a serious danger to any creature that they come across when hungry.

History: During the catastrophic Great Cataclysm, Xul’tarnu bore witness to city-leveling earthquakes and relentless chaos storms, which corrupted its inhabitants. The nearly complete destruction of this once-thriving kingdom left all the large cities and towns destroyed, and their occupants either slain or corrupted.

Today: The land is nearly fully recovered from the damaging effects of the Great Cataclysm. Plentiful wildlife fills the savannas that once again teem with life. But danger still lurks, and the destruction of its former population cannot be undone.
