Location: Coast of east central Centakus

Geography: The land of Troog, situated on the east-central coast of Centakus, is an enigmatic and perilous realm shrouded in mystery. Its geography is dominated by an oppressive tropical rainforest. This lush jungle is characterized by towering trees whose canopies interlock to form a dense, almost impenetrable ceiling.

Prior to the Great Cataclysm, this land was known as Kephir and was a thriving populated land. Today, the Ynka'chira people, the survivors of Kephir's tragic past, live in isolated great walled stone cities. Despite the immense tradgedy of the Great Cataclysm, they sucessfully adapted to the greatly changed environment in ways unseen elsewhere in Raios.

Legends in the outside world speak of gold mines filled with rich veins of the precious metal, now lost to the jungle. Countless adventurers have sought to rediscover them but most of them found nothing but a painful death in this dangerous land. However, the Ynka'chira still work some of these mines, bringing them fabulous wealth when traded with the outside world. Renamed Troog after the cataclysm, the countryside exists today as a wild, expanse of rainforest jungle. The chaos storms have mutated its once-native flora and fauna into grotesque and deadly forms.

Primary Population: Ynka'chira
Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: Veng

Climate: With Troog just south of the equator, the tropical climate remains hot year-round. Rainfall exceeds 200 inches per year but does not fall evenly throughout the year. During the rainy season, rain falls everyday, and the torrential nature of these thunderstorms, leads to flooding. During the dry season, percipitation decreases but it still rains intermittently. but rarely do things get dry enough to have an affect on the jungle vegetation.

Wildlife: The rainforest jungle is home to many colored birds, including toucans and parrots. Troops of monkeys live in the trees, while jaguars and giant anacondas hunt silently on the jungle floor. Exotic insects fly about as massive beetles crawl on the dark leaf covered ground.

Humanoids: The Ynka'chira people live here amidst the jungle filled lands east of the hills. Despite the challenging conditions they continue to thrive, safe in their great stone walled cities, amidst an environment that others find far too hostile.
br] Both Lizardfolk and Grippli also live in the northernmost part of this land. Both of these humanoids were once human before being corrupted by the Great Cataclysm. While the Lizardfolk live on the forest floor, the Grippli avoid danger by living in the crowns of trees.

The coastal waters of Troog often serve as refuge for barbarous Veng pirates, who have established clandestine outposts in secluded coastal coves. Hidden from view by the sheltering barrier islands off the coast, these pirates exploit the jungle's resources, cutting timber for ship construction and repairs, and using the labyrinthine coastline for ambushes on Valmyrrian Empire-bound ships.

Monsters: Monstrous creatures and dangerous aberrations roam the jungle, along with great saurian beasts which migrate out of the Selvurian Jungle. Many species of giant carnivorous plants lie in wait for unsuspecting prey to come within reach. For these reasons, few but the Ynka'chira dare to venture through the jungle of Troog, and fewer still return.

History: Before the Great Cataclysm, Troog was known as the Sultanate of Kephir. This former colony of the Chuulonian Empire possessed legendary gold mines, while its rich agricultural lands produced large amounts of sugar cane. However, the fate of Kephir was sealed when the titanic destructive forces unleashed by the Great Cataclysm causing a portion of the coastline to sink below sea level while massive earthquakes destroyed buildings throughout the sultanate. Dreaded chaos storms, which corrupted or killed everything in their path, swept repeatedly across the northern portion of this land, leaving a devastated landscape.

Today: The land of Troog stands not only as a testament to the catastrophic power of the Great Cataclysm, but also serves as a lesson to what can be accomplished by a determined people in the face of great upheaval. In a land tragically transformed from a thriving kingdom into an impenetrable and dangerous jungle wilderness, the Ynka'chira have found a way to survive in this new environment.
