Climate: Its geography is marked by a sweltering hot humid tropical climate that is characterized by heavy relentless rainfall during the rainy season, which lasts for months. Even during the dry season, sporadic thunderstorms bring enough rainfall to the jungle that it never lacks for moisture. This prodigious precipitation totals over 300 inches annually. In low lying areas, the soils are waterlogged and swampy. In the more central areas, the porous limestone bedrock has been incised by the incessant rainfall, leaving steep canyons with fast flowing streams. A long range of steep, spire-like hills stand tall above the soggy landscape and provide some of the only dry ground in the jungle.
Wildlife: The primal rainforest is home to a kaleidoscope of brilliantly colored birds, including toucans and parrots, whose vibrant plumage dazzles observers. Monkeys swing gracefully through the trees, their chattering echoing through the foliage. Jaguars, with their stealthy grace, stalk their prey, while giant anacondas silently slither through the swampy waters. In the depths of the jungle, exotic insects, such as iridescent butterflies and massive beetles, add to the enthralling mosaic of life.
Humanoids: The Vlessh, a primitive saurian-like humanoid race, living only in the Selvurian Jungle, trace their origins to the second age of the world. These enigmatic beings possess primitive stone-age technology yet have some limited magical abilities. Before the Great Cataclysm, they engaged in frequent conflicts with the Movorians. To this day, the Vlessh still harbor deep resentment towards humans, still telling tales of their cruelty during ancient conflicts. They will react to Humans with aggressive hostility when encountered.
The Ynka'chira, a race of human survivors from the pre-cataclysmic Kephir Sultanate, also inhabit the easternmost reaches of the jungle. They reside in large towns and small cities that have secure high walls of stone for protection.
Monsters: The creatures of the Selvurian Jungle, holdovers from the Second Age of Raios are found only in the southern rainforests of Raios and nowhere else. The great apex predators include the ever dangerous Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus, who all have mouths filled with large sharp teeth. Smaller predators include Deinonychus, Dimetrodon, Megaraptor, Troodon, and Velociraptor. These creatures are smaller but no less dangerous than the apex predators. Extremely large herbivores, some of which graze treetops, include Amargasaurus, Brachiosaurus, Brontosaurus, Compsognathus, Diplodocus, Iguanodon, and Parasaurolophus. The most common flying creature is Quetzalcoatlus with an impressive 40 foot wingspan. Areas of freshwater are home to the great predator Spinosaurus with its unique sail-like structure on its back. In coastal waters there is still tremendous danger as there are quite a few great predators that are large enough to attack ships. These include Elasmosaurus, Kronosaurus, Nothosaur, Plesiosaurus, and Tylosaurus.
History: Throughout its history, the Selvurian Jungle has remained an untamed wilderness, largely untouched by civilization. It endured the Great Cataclysm relatively unscathed, retaining its ancient population of great pimeaval beasts that are the last remnants of a long forgotten age.
Today: This vast jungle wilderness, completely untamed, harbors both dangers and wonderous vistas. A visit here brings the traveler back to a long lost era that has disappeared elsewhere.
