Rig-573

Rig-573 is a mining colony stationed above Jupiter. It was designed by the geniuses working for Johnson Industries, a mining company that had just begun expanding into the stars. After receiving intel from reconnaissance drones that pointed towards large deposits of Trounium being mixed into the atmosphere of Jupiter, Johnson Industries had decided to create Rig-573 with the express intent of mining in the rigorous environment of the gas giant. The Rig was one of the most costly ships created, utilizing experimental technology that had taken years to perfect. This shielding technology on board would make Rig-573 completely immune to the effects of the Rotating Disturbance Area near Jupiter. Looking to make up for the costly investment the space colony was, Johnson Industries looked into cheap labor -- discovering the hordes of criminals waiting on a sentence from earthly governments after committing heinous crimes. After swindling corrupt officials working under the United Earth Confederation, the Rig had received a steady supply of personnel, drugged and ready to work for little to no pay. Depending on the severity of the crime committed, some would lose all memories of their life before being brought onto the Rig.

The Rig operated smoothly ever since -- designing the highly experimental CHITIN armor. (Cybernetic Hardened Iridium Titanium Integrated Nanosuit). This armor is grafted into the human flesh, preventing the user from removing it via normal means. The CHITIN armor serves as a standard suit for protection against the hazardous atmosphere of Jupiter, where miners are sent out to extract rich gaseous deposits and to perform repairs on the outer layer of the Rig.
