Edelyin (Edel-yin)

In the western reaches of the Caelum Landmass, home to vast, dense woodlands and coursing rivers, here lies the forest and snow region of Edelyin. With cityscapes that are lost to nature with mosaic's of labyrinths and waterways that stand tall with resources from wooden structures or craved into the mountains themselves they seem at place here where they blend with the natural environment itself.   Edelyin and its many cultures stand true to natural harmony, with a landmass of great trade that welcomes forestry, agriculture, carapentry, leatherworking and famed alchemists that make use of the herbalist area for natural goods and resources.    With their favoured goddess of Farore the nature spirit, they have been given great faith in protecting nature even if their Goddess does not see them as so. With its harmony within nature the landscape is under constant damage and nature that elementals that wander the lands surface are said to be welcome and cause natural disasters that return it to a time of primintive nature.    The calamity on this location has allowed elementals to take reign over the land with some alchemists and future seers, seeing a way to handle or control the elements within their goal, by the Forest Princess, Euphoria Bell and the council of the Order of the Moon. An society that takes pride in education and natural protecting and those who are chosen by the elements to lead a new age for Edelyin.

Geography

Edelyin is a land filled with lush forests, most of the land has been replaced with grasslands, swamps and the northern part of the country excludes cold weather and snow where forestland is more barren with replacements to frozen lakes and rivers that part the river with a somewhat nice climate. It goes through a seasonal growth with the weather changing to fit the environment. Much of the expanse is populated by small settlements, each interconnected by a series of roads and canals. With Edelyin's decline on man-made structures, however, many of these small communities have been abandoned. Roads have been reclaimed by nature, and the canal system has fallen into disrepair, due to the Wildlife Code of Conduct that has been established by the Order of the Moon.   Major geographical features act as natural boundaries between the nation and its neighbors. To the north the Fog Peaks serve to divide Edelyin from the cold part of the nation above. The Sellen River flows through the Verduran Forest, along the boundary of the nation.   The lifeblood of the nation is the River Porth, which has its sources in the World's Edge Mountains and winds its way through the vast grasslands of the Plains before pouring into the Inner Sea. The capital, Gloomfield, is located at the opening of the river and center of the nation

Ecosystem

Though the Order of the Moon watch over the forest with its inhabitant druids, it nevertheless presents many dangers. These include ettercaps, fey, dragons, river pirates along the sentient folk. Their are also woodland element protectors and carnivorous plants with nests of giant vermin and woodland animals.   Blackwood satyrs take perverse pleasure in following noble lords and ladies during their passage down the Sellen River, playing songs from the river's bank to lure vessels closer and spellbind all aboard.

Fauna & Flora

Within the Forest's Mainland of Edelyin, it is the heartland of Edelyin, an largely free place filled with feywild beasts and Natural Animals that have not been altered by the effects of the calamity. Their is the druid-controlled Verduran forest which is home to gnomes, halflings, ettercaps, and numerous fey. The Fog Peaks on the border are home to those of numerous giants and thunderbirds who sometimes are present of a threat, while some wild goblins make their lairs in the World's Edge Mountains

Natural Resources

Edelyin's natural resources include the towering blackwood trees of the Verduran Forest, the countless iron mines of the World's Edge Mountains, the olives and grapes of the southern coast between the Porth and the Junrune, and the wineries and vineyards of the Zimdul Briarfields.
Industries:

  • Farming, Orchards of farming have been cleared within thickets throughout Edelyin, and have specialised large gardens for those to grow their own crops and resources where they are provided with seeds for a cost and permit which is offered once a month for them to gain permission to grow crops on the ground.
  • Hunting, to ensure no man is too greedy in his take, the hunters must take act with Venari, The God of the Hunt in order to pursue food, and go by the regulations of the forest to make sure to hunt only within season. They also combat poachers who risk upsetting the balance of the forest.
  • Leatherwork, The artisans of Edelyin use the finest hide and bones that hunters can provide, and craft works of such quality as to garner the admiration of the entire realm. They ensure that never will any part of an animal go to waste.
  • Alchemists, They gather resources from the Herbalist Guild, they make potions which they then sell to various consumers.
  • Herbalists, to gather plants making sure to replant them back in the forest.
