Knights of Agamus
The Knights of Agamus are the Guardians of BeaconSpire Village and the self-appointed Champions of the Gri’x. Their headquarters is the Lantern Lodge, one of the three points of the Triamble in BeaconSpire Campus.
Like The Spriory and Gri’x University, the Lodge has multiple manifestations throughout the dimensions, and members can be found wherever creativity is possible. (Many honorary members aren’t even aware that they’ve been inducted.)
The Lantern Lodge serves as the University’s Art Department, and each Order offers a wide selection of classes for both casual students and serious aspiring Creators.
The Knights’ mission is threefold:
To contribute their own visions and ideas to the overall Creation of Existence
The Knights see the Omnul, whom they call The Master, as an artist. It may or may not know what It is trying to make, only that It is making. The Great Project (The Masterpiece), such as it is, takes as long as it takes, and will be what it will be.To encourage all beings to discover and follow their own creative impulses, and to protect the creations thereof from extermination or erasure
The Knights believe that every sentient being is an individual carrier of the original Omnulic spark, and thus has some kind of creative talent, whether they know it or not. Anyone who feels the call to add their own creations to the Masterpiece should be free to hone their skills and pursue their work as they see fit. Since the introduction of the Dreck to the Gri’x, most of the Knights have also assumed guardianship of that race, believing that the undeniable spirit of creation is what counts, rather than any subjective evaluation of the skills, talents, or expertise of the creator. Certain elite-minded purists beg to differ—from a distance, if they’re wise.To keep extremists from throwing the whole Project out of balance
The Knights believe that the Master is in The Zone, and they are sworn to protect Its concentration from interruption or derailment. They stand against the negativity of critics, intrusive spectators with plenty of suggestions (but no will, patience, or courage to create anything for themselves), and the ever-present threat of “monetization” from the Consensi. The Knights of Agamus are also the sworn enemies of anyone who would lay claim to the creations of others.
“The idea isn’t the art. The finished piece isn’t the art. Art lies in the process, the growth of your soul as you do the work: the ink splots on your fingers, the soreness in your muscles, the new thoughts and connections that spring up in your mind as you birth the thing. Art takes time, and gives back so much more than just an end product. If you didn’t do the work, you didn’t create it; you just found it. Now take your thieving name off it and pick up a pencil—or so help me, I’ll run you through where you stand.”— Sir Horatio Blustermere, Order of the Iris,
