Brýŋ-Ýïr

Brýŋ-Ýïr, or Brinar, was one of the 32 tribes, or Ýïr, that fought in the Khólteðian Wars. It was one of the 10 tribes of the Arðor-Úŋï, and during the Wars, it occupied the northernmost territory of the 32, that being the mountains of the Arbin Watershed. Relatively secluded even from their fellow Úŋïan Tribes, they would eventually develop a sizeable army of their own, conducting a series of grand maneuvers under the leadership of Óšrýðamüð that saw the conquest of numerous eastern tribes. These maneuvers would be the first great escalation of conflict in the Wars, transforming it from merely regional skirmishes to all-oute turmoil across all 32 tribes. Following their halting by Žŋað-Ýïr at the Battle at Këršömeð, Brýŋ-Ýïr would be rendered brittle and weakened by attacks and revolts from within its own population and from neighboring tribes, leading to a slow process of fracturing and ultimately conquest by surviving populations of Múuŋ-Ýïr, Žŋað-Ýïr, and Múýl-Ýïr.

History

In the Crisis of 24982 AYM

As a Úŋïan Tribe, Brýŋ-Ýïr did not emerge as a distinct group until the Second Phase of the Crisis of 24982 AYM, which emerged after the Battle at the Palace in 22 Ulta-Eimarae and the Ceasefire of Zïlëŋý from 22 Ulta-Eimarae to 5 Suta-Eimarae. Prior to that, the Arðor-Úŋï was not a multitude of tribes but a unified front against the Arðor-Tal. The First Phase of the Crisis was chiefly between these two sides, and it featured some of the most deadly and grievous battles that occurred within the walls of the Ïlýrhonid Tribe, including the Massacre of the Krëšŋ-Ðórr and the Battle of Arhžvóo. These events occurred while Lŋórak was the military commander of the Úŋïans, and in the lull that enveloped both sides after the forced peace that was the Ceasefire, the Úŋïans found themselves differing across many issues, the primary such issue being the governin style of Lŋórak. One such side, defined by the adherence to the rampant violence of Lŋórak, was made of several tribes, namely Ðýhëk-Ýïr, Brýŋ-Ýïr, and Ažým-Ýïr. This group is referred to as the Moš-Úŋï, or the Worthy Úŋï. It was around this time that Óšrýðamüð would rise to power within the Brýŋïan tribe, but as befit the tribal philosophy as explained below, he did not serve as a commander but merely the moral glue of the tribe, constantly reminding and confiding in the tribespeople the goals and ambitions of the tribe, and encouraging their continued fighting.

These three tribes would skirmish extensively with the Kýïans, Talians and other non-Mošian Úŋïan Tribes. In fact, it was precisely these three tribes that took part in the Battle of Köš-Ëmvrad on behalf of the Úŋïans. It is estimated that Brýŋ-Ýïr was the smallest of the three, having formed out of those that wished to continue the Lŋórakian approach to violence, but without the over-reliance on the aging Lŋórak himself (akin to Ðýhëk-Ýïr) nor the attempt to use such violence to corral the quickly-diverging Úŋïan factions back together (akin to Ažým-Ýïr). Instead, the Brýŋïans strove for violence within any such enforcement or dominant leadership role, as the experience of fighting under Lŋórak proved such leadership figures to be fragile, untrustworthy, and prone to weaknesses. Instead, they favored the tendency of the masses, and in such a chaotic and lawless situation like the rampant skirmishes that inundated the Khólteð Family throughout this time, such an anarchical stance rendered them extremely flexible. Despite being the smallest, they were nonetheless very fluid and adaptable, lacking no real headquarters but existing as several distinct colonies that morphed to befit the present situation. Estimates place their population at around 750 to 900 individuals at the time of their creation, and this would steadily decrease to around 300-400 as they became involved in more skirmishes.

In the Khólteðian Wars

The tribe of Brýŋ-Ýïr was relegated to a medium-sized territory in the extreme northeast of the Tayzem Desert, that is, where the Desert meets the Arbin Watershed. This watershed is surrounded by mountainous peaks in what is known as the Arbin Mountain Range, and these peaks could reach as high as 5,500 meters within just the Brýŋïan territory alone. This was likely due to the extreme violence that the tribe displayed during the Crisis, as similarly harsh punishments had been carried out for other violent tribes like Ërëšð-Ýïr and Ašëð-Ýïr. However, Brýŋ-Ýïr's situation was very unique in that they held near-sole control the resources of the Watershed, and could defend such resources from neighboring tribes like Múýl-Ýïr and Ýkšúž-Ýïr. These resources were indeed very plentiful, consisting mainly of Kirfür-Arbin, dense rock that had been weathered by the river into smooth tiles that were of the perfect consistency for construction. Farther away from the riverbed was a different kind of rock known as Kirfür-Ëkšatar, which was noticeably coarser and less dense, but was of the perfect consistency for eating. It is likely that they learned of these resources as well as the techniques for harvesting them from the Hýhïd-Tëžem, who had been harvesting from the Watershed since the Hayïdic Expedition of 25032 AYM.
