The Frostfallen House

The Wildlings

Nuclear Family Members

This family is governed by a core of experienced individuals who saw the worst facets of war when they were of a very young age, so they took it amongst themselves to protect and take care of all those who dare oppose the royal administration and put their lives on the line for freedom of choice. Their titles and namesakes are the following:

  • John Frostfallen, the Merciless, Lord Paramount of The North. He is the father and current political leader of the family. Described as a proud, long-bearded Hill Dwarf who rules over his lands with might, and a fair bit of kindness.
In spite of this, he is seen by some as an ale-lover, whore addict, violent warrior, and horrible flute player, but everyone in his family's territory knows that he, deep inside, is a kind but fierce ruler who deserves his title more than anyone else ever could.

  •
  • Janah Frostfallen, the Gentle Stjarna, Lady Paramount of The North. She is the mother and public speaker of the family, depicted as a golden-haired Forest Gnome with a "tiny body and a big heart", actively trying to make the Doomum's vassals happy with their current lives and daily employment.
Despite Duke John's reputation with women and all kinds of vices, she effectively serves as a talented mediator who visibly tries her hardest to hold the northern community together and ensure their upmost loyalty to the House in spite of the Lord Paramount's image, even if she is the one who has to clean after her husband's messes.

  •
  • Lord Jonathan Frostfallen is the eldest son and next-in-line leader of the Frostfallen Doomum. Like his father, he is the only known Wild Magic Sorcerer of his family's generation, easily earning the respect of most humanoids in the territory and being treated as one of those Princes born with a higher purpose that none could understand.
Notwithstanding these high expectations, Jonathan has been seen working hard in every job he's been assigned by his father, doing everything he is asked without hesitation, and providing Nixfall with anything it desires whilst trying to be a better Elemedici each day of his life.
In the eyes of the people, he is the perfect heir. Moreover, his element is publicly known to be Smoke, and he was born the fourth of the seventh month of the year 14 PSM, at a time when the Frostfallen Great House still had the realm's respect and a towering position of power.

  •
  • Lord Johnar Frostfallen is the middle son. He may not be a Sorcerer like his brother, but he is a fierce warrior, proficient in the ways of the "Berserker", a strange Northern fighting style based on visceral violence and affinity to nature's power, His power...
He is a fighter explicitly addicted to blood. In the middle of cold, too peaceful nights, he's been seen roaming around Nixfall's perimeter to wrestle with the local fauna: wolves and bunnies who roam too far from home, are surprised with a wall of muscle ready to tear them apart and cook what remains.
For all that, even if he seems nothing more than powerful murderous scoundrel, his family and fellow coworkers tend to describe him as "a most loyal, service-ready pile of brawn", and they try to warn the Great House's vassals to not underestimate his intelligence...
His element is known to be Ice, and he was born the sixteenth of the eight month in the year 32 PSM, one year after the Great Doomum War.

  •
  • Lady Jennefer Frostfallen is the youngest, and only daughter of Janah and John's. She is a high born angel, still too young to bleed or search for a profession, it's still unclear if she is a sorcerer, a proficient Elemedici of any kind, or a talentless pretty face. No matter, only time will tell.
Her appearance is so resemblant of her mother that she may very well look the same when she grows up, which is why that, and the fact that she is the only family's girl as of yet, may be the reason why her mother favors her over the other boys...
Her element is still unknown, and she was born the fourteenth of the twelfth month in the year 43 PSM.

Both princes and princess share an interesting quality, they're hybrids, beings who inherited the physical might and resilience of the dwarves, with the cunning and magical proficiency of the gnomes, maybe even their long-forgotten luck...

Political Representatives
Since the end of Ex-president's Aegnor Narkhanar's administration, all Great Houses lost their encompassing political power and policy making ability, which is why they rightfully stopped allocating valuable resources in the maintenance of spokesmen, diplomats, representatives, and trained members of parliament.
In present times, most Houses are satisfied with a couple of no-name officials in suits living comfortly in the Golden Citadel to represent their "voice" in the House of Doomum of Parliament, even if it amounts to absolutely nothing.

The Frostfallen Doomum itself has had a political representative living in the Citadel for more than a decade now, even after their voluntary-exile. They were sent there with the task of attending to the now-rare House of Doomum's parliament sessions, and to serve as the only Southern spokesman of the once great House. As a result, Duchess Janah has ensured the Northerners that they are doing everything they can to restore the House's long-lost reputation in eyes of the Kingdom, and that some day, they will be able to finally migrate to less perilous soil to thrive on.

Culture

A culture of freedom of choice, expression, and desires is the most defining quality of House Frostfallen's territories. None shall be silenced nor ignored, that's what the current Lord Paramount of The North has wanted to define the house ever since his father's Ser Jermyas death.
Moreover, an "egotistical work culture" is the preferred way of employment in settlements like Nixfall where, rather than work for the welfare of the entire community, each individual works on sustaining themselves and their closest friends, allies and family members. This means that everyone is in charge of maintaining themselves, instead of needing to work for the welfare of "the Realm" as is the Sacra Monarchia's philosophy.
Furthermore, even though this seems like it would break the community apart and disconnect everyone from everybody, the results have proven the contrary, as at least Nixfall's society has built a close and cooperative community based on honor, as no one in the North can survive alone, working with others is as important as working for oneself, even when things get rough during life-threatening Gyggems or Praesticus raids, helping others survive and thrive is key for one to do the same.

Assets

NixFall, the Bastion of The North, serves as the current capitol of the Frostfallen Doomum, which combines Romanesque and Nordic architecture in one large, impregnable fortress specifically built to withstand the strongest snowstorms (also called Gyggems), barbarian raids, beast attacks of all sizes, and even Arcane Sieges. Even though their previous Capitol, Håpets Fengsel, was way more fortified and covered a greater deal of land than Nixfall could ever imagine, it is still a good enough echo of the House's former glory and has done a sufficient job as of yet in defending its inhabitants.

Additionally, the Frosfallen House is the poorest of the eight remaining Great Houses in many aspects, because it lacks the necessary resources to sustain itself: relatively low quantity of magical items, controls the smallest number of humanoids out of all Houses (with a combined total of two thousand living and three hundred unliving), has no bartering no political power in the greater landscape of Mystralis, it is physically unable to expand to further lands, and has lost all political relations with the Sánchez administration. A dire view indeed.

History

Once upon a time, the Frostfallen Family was one of the most powerful Doomum of the Great Migration, by the time when its former Lord was alive, Ser Jermyas Frostfallen, Lord of Frost.

He was no sorcerer, nor an anointed Knight, nor anything alike. He was a strategist, a political leader of note, fear and respect. He basically controlled the Central Plains before the Great Fall, as he was one of Aegnor's favorites, each House answered to him when trying to expand their territory along the plains, and everyone who disobeyed his or Aegnor's orders was corrected by his all powerful army of raiders, the Brotherhood of Nix, made up of criminals of other planes who came to Novarkan to escape divine punishment and retribution, something that Ser Jermyas could relate too.
Ex-president Aegnor was no fool, he saw the deeper meaning of this community: the gods were being laughed upon, even criminals scoundrels could scape the divine grasp of divinities so-called "good" or "lawful". So, instead of reeducating them or keeping and eye on them, those with non-treacherous criminal record were sent to live under the Frostfallen's Doomum, where they may learn the meaning of loyalty, honor, pride, and when to break them. This sub-organization was named: the Brotherhood of Nix, synonymous of the Brotherhood of Bastards and Snow in northern tongue.
For as long as President Aegnor reigned, Jermyas Frostfallen handled the criminals of Novarkan in the name of the King, despite his lack of devotion, consequently, he attained the largest territory of all Doomums so he could feed and treat his vassals. Order was in place and mechanisms established, until the Great War...
See, the Frostfallens were the main instigators of the Great War, as they single-handedly earned the hate and disdain of half of the other 25 Great Houses of the time. Specifically, only eleven of those houses honored loyalty and defended the Doomum's actions, the reason behind was that, even when the Frostfallens held the dominant position, they did not abuse their power to impose themselves over the other "lesser" Houses, and when one family honours its vows word for word without hesitation, loyalty comes at a low price.
So, all 11 of those houses slowly rallied together in defense of the Frostfallen Doomum since the war started in the year 27 PSM, itself doing everything it could to defend the integrity of its allies, sending their overflow of men from the Brotherhood to give their lives for the that of others, in name of their Lord of Frost, and of unspoken Honor.
The rest, is history: the war had many facets and moving pieces, but basically the 11 Houses and the Frostfallens formed a faction later called the æresbrorskapet, or the Honorary Fraternity in modern common, whilst 13 of the other 14 houses rallied behing the Sanctum faction, which had the support of the Monarchy and Aegnor's government, a decision which had to not been taken lightly, but no one is really sure why he betrayed the Great House he supported in the first place...
Long story short, the æresbrorskapet lost, in the most bloody war ever seen on the Prime Material Plane, one that cut Mystralis' population in half, they put up a great and challenging fight in the name of fraternity, treated their losses with respect, and managed to Arcane Siege Yhernier for almost half a decade, but in the end, all was for naught. All eleven of Frostfallen's allies were captured, destroyed, or wiped from the crust of Mystralis by the Sancti coalition, not without destroying six of the enemy's Houses. In the end, only the Frostfallens remained in the æresbrorskapet's side.
After years leading the Siege of Yhernier, Ser Jermyas relinquished his coat and held it up high in the entrance of the first wall, declaring his surrender on one condition, he would give up his head, assets and political territory in exchange of the lives and integrity of his children, grandchildren and remaining members of the Brotherhood of Nix. The Golden Citadel did not have to take this trade, they could take it themselves, but President Aegnor granted him his wish, and sent the remaining family members to the North, to survive on their own.
Ser Jermyas Frostfallen was publicly executed amongst the biggest crowd the capital has never seen, his head was put on display on top of a pike beside Yhernier's first wall entrance, and his soul was put on a Containment Jar, which was also publicly dropped in a pool of Soulfire, specifically engineered so that his soul would forever burn and suffer, but never truly die.

After everything they've been through, John's family was an example to the realm, in the best and worst ways possible. Nowadays, they live in "poverty", fighting against wild dangers constantly, and with little chance to leave or recover anytime soon. But at the very least, they still live to see another light.
