Raised by Empress Antient II as the late Empress' ward, Lady Beatrice was thrust into the struggle for succession after Antient II died without naming a successor. Though she had no direct claim to the throne via bloodline, her position as the Empress' ward was a strong one. Her main rival for the throne was Lord Denton Rawley. After his complicity in the events leading to the Cataclysm were unveiled and with the endosement of his son, Anton Rawley, The Royal Council eventually made a unanimous agreement to name her as Empress Beatrice I in 1803

She was taken in by Empress Antient II after her parents were killed by an epidemic that ran through Whitewater Run, where the Empress spent much of her time during the Summer months when she was younger. As the Empress was very close to Lady Beatrice's parents, she took her in as a favor to her deceased friends.
