Aeolian Bazaar

"Silence swimming in a pool of dreams

Beneath it's depths forgotten streams

Above the City of the Evening Star

Behind it's walls the Grand Bazaar"

-The Bazaar, "The Edges of Twilight", Tea Party 1995, EMI Music Canada

"If you cannot find or buy it here, then it was probably never worth having in the first place my friend"

-unknown vendor to a passing customer

Located north west of the Government District, the Aeolian Bazaar is the place for dedicated hard core shoppers. Sprawling all the way north towards the spaceport and its numerous warehouses, the Aeolian Bazaar not only has it all but access to it all. Vendors, merchants, traders all rarely have to wait for their goods, produce and wares to arrive.

It is often said that everyone comes to Utopia at least twice in their lives, once when they arrive and then a second time because who could not want to come back again. Key it is said for drawing people back to the sprawling beachside metropolis is the Aeolian Bazaar. The local tourism board would claim that it is the beaches, good natured inhabitants and the waves. The Bazaar Mercantile Association claim otherwise, and probably have the stats to back it up.

The biggest draw card of the bazaar is it spice and produce. Here customers can get various exotic spices grown in the hinterlands of the Utopia Municipality and neighbouring counties. And then there is the fresh produce (tomatoes, pumpkins, cucumbers etc) which is also grown hydroponically or in the nearby regions. But spices and fresh produce are not the only things available.

There are books, virtual dramas, software, metal goods (precious & utilitarian), whitegoods, tools, electronic supplies, relics of the long lost Lazarene's (often fake though you never really know), jewllery, weapons (from legit manufacturers no Black Mark stuff here) and of course gold, currency and gems. Dotted all across the area designated as the Aeolian Bazaar are over thirty different money changers. These individuals will change your local currency into UN dollars as UN dollars are the only currency accepted in Utopia (though if you have gold or gems exceptions can be made).

Of course there are also other attractions to be found when wandering the highways and byways of the Bazaar. In recent years three vendors have opened up businesses selling pets, these range from fairly ordinary to the downright bizarre and exotic. PROPWA has been keeping an eye on this activity as its operatives suspect something shady, though so far nothing conclusive has come to light. And of course there are strolling players, buskers and at least two dozen fortune tellers of one kind or another.

As it stands, circa 2336 CE, the Aeolian Bazaar is a major draw card for those that visit Utopia or are just passing through. And even for the transient it can serve as a quick means to get some local currency if headed to an area that doesn't use UN dollars as legal tender (such as Krasnygorod or Dyson's Landing) without having to deal with a financial institute.
