An 'earth like' world orbiting a gas giant, Aeolus, that in turn orbits Barnard's Star at a distance of 0.7 Astronomical Units.

At a distance of merely 5.96 light years vested interests deemed it was a suitable target for settlement. And so it became the first world for humanity to colonise beyond it's own home system

Lazarus is a world that while supporting life, once supported civilizations, colossal monuments, mountainous faces, canal networks and decayed, ruined cities litter the landscape of this world

Naturally the lure of such things drew people as a pitcher plant draws insects with its intoxicating scent.
