Tisserian

After being driven from Thovan by the giants of Tuongraunimozg, the Tisseri elves conquered the large island of Icecrown. Their king, Aidan the Bright, fell defeating the natives' god-queen, the maruthar Esira. His queen, Kireana, attempted to resurrect him using old magic. The ritual succeeded, but Aidan came back with power beyond the ken of mortals. The new Aidan became the patron deity of the Tisseri. Kireana decreed a new priesthood should be formed to spread the worship of Aidan. The Tisseri formed a new civilization, Tisserian, which spurned the Korsamu and worshiped only their new god. This young kingdom, united in a new faith, grew into a mighty power which weathered the crusade called against it and later fought The Empire of Scale to a standstill.   Like so many others, the Tisseri empire was racked with famine and pestilence during the Year of Dark Sun. This disruption drew the Lightbringers from their duty of fighting the Deep Rot, allowing it to blight many parts of the surface and bringing with it corruption and demons. Now the Empire of Tisserian is little more than a city-state clinging to the modicum of power and majesty it retains, surrounded by demons and its vengeful former subjects, but dreaming ever of a reconquest and return to its glory days.   Its flag is white with a golden lantern in the center.   Tisserian brought the Akaian Calendar with them when they fled Thovan and spread it across the Northern Oras with their empire.

Structure

Aidan is nominally the head of state (officially titled the God-emperor). However, owing to his detachment from worldly affairs, the Empress acts as the true head of the feudal hierarchy. The various remaining nobles answer to her and scheme to gain her favor.   During interregnum periods, the sixteen year period between the death of the empress and her reincarnation's re-coronation, a regent acts as head of government. This regent is normally a duke or duchess appointed by the empress before her death, but on occasions where she is unable to name a regent, the clergy appoints a noble to fill the role.
