Icecrown

Icecrown is the northernmost island of any size in the Oras. It measures roughly 1,000 km east to west and around 833 km north to south. Its northern extent is a frigid plain covered in treeless tundra. Thousands of small, jagged islands and bays mark the north's sawtooth coast. In the summer, a narrow channel of sea separates the north coast from the The Shadowlands. In the winter, the polar ice reaches the coast and freezes the sea as far south as the river Siperian. Regardless of the extent of the ice, the pall of the Shadowlands never expands, leaving it a distant darkness on the northern horizon in summer and a faint, throbbing glow in winter.   Icecrown was part of the The Empire of Scale for millennia, but after the empire began its isolationist phase in the fifth millennium, the island was left to its own devices. Over the next several millennia, Icecrown continued with almost no contact with the rest of Koru. Having been dedicated to Surukaskarekramaß from the start of the Age of Law, the people of Icecrown never developed an interest in the wider pantheon of the Korsamu. As a result, after being abandoned by their god-empress, the peoples of Icecrown reverted to the Old Way, animism, worship of Leru, and worship of Maruthar (most notably Esira, who they were able to free from Shomor).
