The Permafrost

The Permafrost is the name of the tundra north of the Thielien Forest. The Karhad city of Halfast can be found on Wyrmslayer Isle, near the mouth of the Thielien river. The Whitemane gnolls serving Lady Hrakså, an Ice Dragon who was exiled from The Empire of Scale, have villages in the area. The dragon herself lives in the Crystal Palace, a fortress of ice located on an island off the northern coast and guarded by Frost Giants. Finally, Frostreaver Keep is home to the Frostreaver Orks who also owe allegiance to Lady Hrakså. The Frostreavers range far and wide pillaging wealth to bring back to their suzerain.  

Points of Interest

  Whitemane How: A stony hill rising above the tundra, Whitemane How is the home of the Whitemane gnolls who have constructed an elaborate warren through and beneath the mound. It is the capital of the gnolls, home to their market, moot-hall, and pantheon. The top of the mound is open, allowing sunlight to reach into a courtyard where the sacred oak, Haugir, grows. This oak, the only tree in the Permafrost, is a result of the [Old Magic of the Whitemane druids, who use the tree as a focus for their power.   The Sentinels: Along the edge of the Thielien Forest, the tundra is dotted with giant statues of Tisseri knights. Standing twenty meters tall, these statues were created to watch Tisserian's northern march. The statues are enchanted send a mystic warning to the wardens in Kata Thielien should anything approach from the tundra. No wardens remain to receive such warnings.
