Session 16 - Chapter 6: Kindling

Surely reclamation isn't theft, right?   At least that's what everyone seemed to believe deep in the belly of Pyrecrest's cave. Why does a professor have a cave? The question nearly drove me mad.   Unlearned most of my fellows are, except for the student and the elves, both the pretty one and the other one. All three speak many tongues but not this one, not the language of the cinders. I wouldn't dare admit to them that I'd only taken ancient languages as an elective because the professor was cute, single and age-adjacent. Nevermind my poor pick-up attempts and even poorer date etiquette, lucky for him it only lasted a single date.   Most of the afternoon I spent translating, however poorly but it got the point of these materials across. Pyrecrest couldn't have obtained these on a professor's salary which means other methods were used to either obtain the money or the boxes. Or maybe they weren't even his, he very well could have taken over studies and the secret door a remnant of a past professor. Professors? Answers we'll never have unfortunately.   Some were illegal. Some were unethical. And some idiot moved both of them, good luck Jaxion. Solusi justice is wicked, cold and callous and if you ever cross their path there's no saving you. Not even a pretty lady like me can talk down a furious fey. At least the superstar tried to talk some sense into him. Misguided and hopelessly, but she tried. He, tried? They're cute either way.   We ended up taking some of everything, and all of some things and none of one thing. I doubt they know what to do with it all but somewhere in that box lies the answer to the terrorists. We even found some Sundorite, I bet this will come in handy one day!   Some of my fellows are also racist it seems. It's a shame to see those narrow-minded people still exist in the world, I thought Beau's moved past that thousands of years ago. But they haven't. Not only is Jaxion feymarked but he also seems to hate drow. It didn't matter what the student said, he only trusted the exact same words from the forged. Some people are full of bad choices.   They heeded her warning at least and used less Gravitanium which made the removal of the metals look easier. I didn't lift a finger, who knows if it was actually heavy. If all-brawn-no-brains said it was heavy then I doubt it was. The scorpionid didn't struggle with it. Seems like solid engineering, I wonder what it actually does though. I've only seen it walk around and be heavy. Seems like a lot of wasted artificing if that's all it does.   Turns out the pop idol is a lycanthrope, who could have guessed? Their grandfather invented evocation magic which is definitely worth bragging about. I was going to ask why there wasn't a transformation during the last full moon but apparently that's fiction. They change for different reasons, Lux apparently when they get hurt. I wonder how the finger works or if it works like mine? Everyone else only sees ash. I thought about that for most of the night and settled on it being an evocationist perk. Maybe the idol and I can see more than eye to eye?   Nevermind, they're infatuated with the blue blues guy. Funkmoo. With an ass like that though who could blame them? Not only does it make music and magic, those cheeks make moods. Bonus points to him for being such a strong family man, I've never seen an adult love his Ma and Pa so much to basically worship them. Tragic story about his Ma, I couldn't imagine losing mine.   Mr. Moo made quick work of the metals Jaxion milked then made dinner and entertainment for us all. The drow Xhoya even joined us for some hot food despite the obvious disdain some people have for her. Racists are awful. We'll have a girls night tonight though and forget about the idiots along for the ride. I for one love her and feel like we'll be good friends one day.   Off to sleep now.   Sweet dreams,
