Democratic People's Republic of Italy

The Democratic People's Republic of Italy, more commonly called North Italy, is a notion in souther Europe bordering the German Empire, Kingdom of Italy, French Socialist Republic, Yugoslavia, and Switzerland.

History

North Italy came about in 1948 after a forced general election in Italy was announced after the invasion by the Germans and Americans in the south front the North African Front and the French from the north. Germany attempted to keep the monarchy intact as a bullwark aginst the rise of communism, while the France wished to have Italy aligned with them. As a result of great meddling on both sides, the election was split, with the communists winning in the north and in Corsica, while the monarchists won in the south.

What followed was a brief conflict as neither side accepted the results. In an agreement, it was decided to divide the nation along the lines of the results. North Italy later joined the Comintern Union in 1949.

In 1965, North Italy had the largest nuclear disaster in history. The Trino Nuclear Disaster caused wide spread ramifications, not only to the nation, but led to famines and food shortages throughout Europe. A regime change created an even more authoritarian government as it attempted to clean up the pollution and reform the soil and water.
