United Association of Guilds

Structure

The UAG is basically a giant corporation. There are six main divisions: technology, comestibles, pharmacutecal, entertainment, durable goods and personal goods, and each division oversees the various guilds responsible for the manufacture of the goods that fall within their division. The CEO of each division has a seat on the Board of Directors which is the ruling body of the global government of Taanruk.

Public Agenda

The UAG began as an economic alliance to protect the rights of the workers of the six guilds overseeing the production of consumer goods on Taanruk. As their wealth and power grew, they began to influence governments eventually taking over entire countries and consolidating their power into a global corporatocracy. The original intent of the organization was good, but now their motivation is mostly greed and a desire for power.

History

After the UAG became the global government of Taanruk, they expanded out into the stars in search of new markets for their goods as well as more workers, resources and manufacturing opportunities. In the beginning, their expansion was kept in check by the benevolent influence of the Bane'ile and the Singers of Songs, but once the Singers of Songs returned to their Astrocyan Realms and the Bane'ile home world was destroyed by a super nova, the balance of power in Kantostara was ended.   One by one, the UAG took over the interstellar trade routes, colonized strategic worlds and even remade worlds so that they could function as giant manufacturing and distribution hubs. The first of these, of course, was Kataan. The UAG's economic power has continued to grow unchecked until the present when the majority of goods manufactured and sold in Kantostara are now produced by UAG workers.

Education

Workers employed by the UAG are required to have completed the minimum standard education and be able to speak, read and write fluently in Common. Then they receive specialized training from the guild that they will be joining through a period of apprenticeship.
