Cavalier
The cavaliers are an elite group of freighter pilots named for the cavalier class super freighters that they fly. These huge freighters rely on the use of the new technology of consonant matrices which enables multiple scepter tone key crystals to smoothly blend their energies to work in tandem requiring a team of highly skilled pilots working together as one.
Qualifications
Cavaliers are chosen from among only the most highly skilled heavy freighter pilots working for the United Association of Guilds (UAG) and must undergo a rigorous training program to become proficient in the special skills needed to handle the huge cavalier class freighters. In addition to the usual knowledge that all licensed pilots must possess, these elite flyers must also master the difficult task of, not only bonding with their own individual scepter tone key crystals, but also working seamlessly with their team to bond with the consonant matrix that weaves the energies of all six scepters together.Hazards
When dealing with new technologies, it generally takes a while to get all the bugs worked out, so piloting the cavalier freighters can be a dangerous and demanding job. Seventeen cavaliers have actually perished so far. Eight when one of the freighters crashed into a portal and was destroyed, another eight when a freighter was lost in the synaptical routes, and one died right in the middle of a run, from a heart attack brought on by stress. Fortunately, two alternates train with every team of cavaliers, so a replacement pilot was able to quickly step in to keep the freighter safely in flight.Social Status
The job of cavalier is one that many heavy freighter pilots aspire to, but few achieve. There are currently only twenty four pilots who possess the qualifications and licensing required to be a cavalier. They are greatly admired among all of the UAG freighter pilots and are afforded many perks and luxuries not available to the others in return for their dedication to excellence.
